2022 update: Porta-johns now gone. :( Cute park with parking and porta-johns. It's the entrance to Kawainui Marsh Trail. Great, easy, mostly paved (some areas are gravel) and pretty flat hike along Maunawili Stream.

Ok to bring leashed dogs, per DLNR signage.

Ducks, marshland, and an array of frogs(?).

If you bring a stroller, be prepared for some gravelly road til you hit the pavement along the marsh.

Beautiful views of the mountains.

No shade, so bring a hat or umbrella.

No great water spots (public fountain...ewwww), so bring your own water.

Some adults not as nice to let kids use the pavement, though most are, and saw just one unleashed dog; pretty mild overall.

Recommend a bike over scooter, and off-road strollers...

My wife and I brought our 2 year old son here as a quick chill bike ride. We absolutely loved it, it was definitely being well used and for obvious reasons! We saw several families walking and some were biking like us as well. The 2 mile stretch is both scenic and relaxing. We ended up doing two laps and enjoyed the views and the marsh. Definitely a great family spot and even better they have a dog park there too. Before leaving we stayed to enjoy the doggies enjoying the park.

There are trash cans available and 2 rickety porta-a-potties in case you can't hold it. Otherwise, there's just enough parking and it's perfect for...

Fine if you live nearby or are driving past, but not ideal for biking and definitely nothing to go out of your way for. "Bike Trail" is a misnomer. It's about two-thirds (across) gravel not suitable for biking, and a bit of paved road (after a stretch towards the beginning that's all gravel). There are signs saying pedestrians have the right of way, and they will. not. move. for cyclists, so passing is tricky, stressful, and generally annoying.

There's plenty of parking. There are two fairly nasty portable toilets by the...

Not sure where the great trails are that others have written about but we struggled to find an entrance in mid March 2023, and all entrances locked up tighter than a drum. We parked on the side of the road and tried to find walkable paths, but it was total muddy mayhem, cluttered with garbage and broken down equipment. See photos. Total disappointment.

Lovely place. Nice to walk/jog/bike,stroller friendly, easy for toddlers and kids to walk, beautiful views and lots to see. See what different animals you can see each time- there's engaged birds there! Don't feed the animals. Dogs only on leash!!! No bathrooms no shade. Fairly short but great way to get in your steps while enjoying the nature.
