I first found out about Island Alpaca via Tripadvisor when I was looking for things to do in Martha's Vineyard. I immediately contacted them via phone and they told me to submit an form with my preferred dates. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate my first preferred date.

We arrived a little bit late, but they were able to put us right into the tour. We had an 11am Alpaca Walk with 2 alpacas ($30 per alpaca, $20 per person sharing an alpaca). Our guide, Tayla, was absolutely amazing. She gave us a run-down of the tour, taught us how to handle the alpacas, and walked around during the tour to help us take photos and wrangle the alpacas.

I had Khan Dor and the in-laws had Atticus. You get roughly 20-25 minutes walking the alpacas, with tons of opportunities for pets, nuzzles, and photo ops!

Our alpaca, Khan Dor was more interested in an afternoon snack than us sometimes, but our guide taught us a super neat trick to get them to pose for photos. This was an absolutely amazing experience and I highly recommend it if you're on MV. Make sure you book early though, because they only do two walks a day!

If you're not able to get on an Alpaca Walk, they have a giant pen of alpacas that you can see and pet. There are plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal and everyone was super friendly and willing to answer questions about...

For those seeking an exceptional and distinctive experience on Martha's Vineyard, the alpaca farm presents a delightful opportunity. Easily accessible by car, with ample parking available, the farm provides a convenience that is matched only by its charm.

Upon entry, visitors are greeted with a serene ambiance that sets the stage for a tranquil and pleasurable experience. The reasonably priced admission offers access to an array of attractions, but the highlight is undoubtedly the alpaca walk. Guided by knowledgeable and engaging staff, this unique encounter provides an intimate connection with the alpacas, creatures whose grace and beauty are sure to captivate.

The presence of the alpacas themselves cannot be overstated; their gentle nature and endearing appearance are a central feature of the farm. Their presence adds an undeniable allure that is both memorable and enchanting.

Moreover, the farm boasts a well-curated gift shop, stocked with a fine selection of alpaca-themed souvenirs and products. It serves as an excellent reminder of the visit and allows guests to take a piece of the experience...

Basically paid $5 per person for the family to “see” pride winning alpacas in the stable and yard and for the privilege of visiting the gift shop which was nice, but expensive. Maybe we just missed all the fun that day? No one was there to talk about the animals or answer questions. But seriously, we made a special trip by bus and foot to visit in hopes of a nice experience for our 4 kids, and it was pretty lame to have to pay for what we got. If it was off-season, then maybe the farm should just allow people to visit and donate if they so choose??? And sorry, I can’t imagine doing yoga with alpacas?—they smelled really bad (and and I’m used to farm work and smells). Also, alpacas are not really friendly animals— Why are they pretending that they are so sweet and cuddly? Now— if you are simply crazy about alpacas and excited about supporting the industry as a sustainable local textiles business—great! Do it— just don’t necessarily expect a super fun experience. Or call ahead to find out what’s actually happening...

Had a very pleasant 1.5 hour visit with the llamas and their guardian alpacas just after the 10 am opening on a Wednesday morning. Fun to watch the herd interact with each other and their handlers in the paddock. Very informative and nice handlers who answered everyone’s questions and explained about the farm and the animals. You can pet them (so soft) and take lots of fun pictures from outside the fence. We were fortunate to see a 3 day old baby on his first day outside of the barn. There are two paddock areas to see them – one out in the open and one that has shade and seats. Though kids will love this, it is also very interesting for adults, too. Lots of unique items made from their wool in the gift shop. Nominal admission which we were happy to pay to help the farm continue.

I ordered a pair of mittens online from this farm and I had a couple of small issues with my order and the customer support I got was beyond amazing. My first pair started coming undone as soon as I wore them, after a quick email exchange I had a second pair sent over and the shipping costs paid for the pair I returned. My second pair was too big (totally my fault!! I assumed the other pair was my size but I didn't try them on 😞😞😞) Again, a quick email exchange with them (they sent me the measurements for both mitten sizes) I'm waiting for my new and last pair! I know it reads like a saga but it really was a great online shopping experience. I highly recommend Island Alpaca 😊😊😊 (As you can tell these pictures are of the bigger pair)

Pretty cool place to visit if you’re in the area! I was a little concerned at first but the entry is very cheap so I figured let’s give it a shot and I was not disappointed. There were a number of knowledgeable staff there to answer questions, and I guess we came at feeding time which was funny to see the Llamas freak out about food. I learned quite a bit for my time there and would go back if I get the chance. The gift shop is quite expensive but I don’t mind supporting local businesses so we bought a cute little llama with a hat. Overall it’s quite out of the way but there is a bus that drops you off right in front so if your in the island and have some time do check it out, it’s pretty cool!
