It's a thing now. !!! I get to share this place with a Lady. A woman !! Now. My GF. 30 years ago. A huge crush. That was happening in a no no situation. 30 years.and I could barely get out a sentence that didn't sound like Buger on "the revenge of the needs " might say. At least. In my scared of rejection heart. Was I really. Nah. Only. With her. Yes !!! I was pretty smooth. And. Def. A gentleman. But I f used up in a minute. And I get to sit with this beautiful , caring, understanding. Empathetic. Yet strong and fearless young Woman The Point is a spot she loves. And I'd known since my Dad showed my Twin Brother and I 50 yrs ago. A spot a Woman whom works everyday , all day , sometimes thru the night , A leader that kept a team going all thru the Covid Pandemic. That kept Team onto Teams of people safe and always updated. She deserves her spot Even if it's just walking to pick up shells. To think. To remember. To grieve. To celebrate and make memories. This spot "The Point" has all our souls and the souls of our loved ones Salt cured. We need our SEA SALT. SALT of the EARTH BEAUTIFUL FLOWER I LOVE TO WATCH SUNSETS AT THE POINT WITH...

I have been enjoying The Point for the last six years and it is always a great time. My wife has been coming here since she was a little girl and it's still great.

We generally pull up in a boat or two to get all the family here. There are tons of places to anchor and depending on the time of day you can pull up to the sandbar and anchor there too.

The sand is generally fairly soft even though there are shells. You can swim without and let your kids loose, but sometimes the riptide can he strong so it's best to keep an eye on your kids. You can swim to the sandbars and we generally do this with the kids in life jackets even though the water is calm and not too deep.

Over the years I've seen all types of fish, dolphins, turtles, crabs, and this year we saw a manta ray. There are many different bird species too.

My wife and I are the eco-friendly adults of the family so we make sure everyone cleans up and most of the time the people who come here do a nice job of cleaning up too.

I love this place and it's great if you have a boat. We pull the kids and adults in the waterway on a raft, you'll see kite surfers, and we knee board a little too. You can spend hours out here. This is an...

Im giving this place a 3 stars. It can go up and it was 5 stars even though I have not reviewed it. My family goes to Wilmington alot and we drive an hour to get to the Point. However when we went today they had put new sand on the beach. Not an issue. They are taking care of the beach. However having smaller chidlren in our group a 5 year old, 2 years, 6 years old. It helped that there was a tide pool! For those unfamiliar with the term, basically a dug out spot for when the tide gets high it fills up and its like a big ocean pool on the beach. It helped with kids not wanting to deal with the waves and still get beach water and fun. No they have filled it in and it was just not there. Its still great spot but honestly the tide pool made the difference with kids. Please dig that back out so kids...

This is high tide but during low tide the place fills up on windy days with people and boats. Fishing off the point is pretty good with live shrimp at high tide. Squid works ok but the croakers were getting to it first most of the time. There were a group of guys that were wading after dark as the tide was going out and catching fish in the current. It was just dark enough I could not make out what species they were targeting. The fish appeared to be anywhere from 12 - 18 inches and were grease lightning pulling their drag upon the initial hookup. There were only 8 people out there as darkness fell. Good fishing to all!

Nestled where the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) gracefully meets the ocean, this charming location offers a unique opportunity for exploration. The tidal nature of the area brings with it intriguing currents, yet it remains an ideal spot for a leisurely paddle around Sheep Island and its surroundings. While parking is limited and requires a fee during the season, the convenience of a port-a-potty and a foot rinse in the parking lot enhances the overall experience. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a curious adventurer, this picturesque setting promises a memorable journey.
