Really really awesome place to ride a whole bunch of different kinds of trails. Not really for novice Rider unless you stick to the blacktop although there are some less dramatic Trails towards the bottom of the ridge. First time in Haw Ridge on my specialized Stumpjumper f s r. I took a couple good spills there are some really technical parts of the trials I would never recommend going there when it's wet. A lot of exposed rocks mostly slate so it's slippery when it's wet very pretty had a real good time. Would definitely recommend for anybody to check it out there's more trails and you can ride in an 8 hour day unless you had a motor. But that's not what MTB is about LOL another good ride is on the other side of Oak Ridge, go to the very top of whippoorwill there's a Greenway out there with a lot of nice trails good riding. Be...

Not a great place to trail run or ride in my experience. The interior of this labyrinthine trail system is barely marked, so perhaps this park is more suited to orienteering or geocaching. Some of the trails appear to have been cut by a billy goat, as they are too steep to navigate on a bike or with the benefit of just two legs. This also leads to erosion problems, exposing a geology more suited to hooves than sneakers or tires. You'll want to shower after a trip here as this place is truly infested with poison ivy. There are some ok trails around the fringes of the park, and maybe in the back, but you'll want to bring your GPS with you if...

Today (7/1/2024) was the first time I've been able to visit this park since 1988 back when I was in high school. Then in the 1990's & 2000's, the city used to have it closed off regularly whilst they reconstructed it into a greenway, cutting off access to vehicles, and building a new boardwalk along the lake that now allows access to Melton Lake Dr. By cutting off access to vehicles, the city eliminated one huge problem that this park was a known haven for. For political reasons, I won't say what that haven was since the liberal media likes to promote it, but you get...

Nice nature trail good for mountain biking too! Folks with limited mobility may find parts of the trail accessible but mostly not. It was icy when I was there but even without that some narrow and slippery places with lots of roots and rocks and some sloped parts would be a bit too much. Gorgeous though, with plenty of great views and fresh air. There is a porta potty in the parking area and they seem to keep it pretty clean.

My friend and I walk here fairly often. We park in the parking lot across from Centennial Village for easy access to Haw Ridge Greenway which is paved all the way to Melton Lake. Then you can turn left and walk for miles on Melton Lake Greenway all the way to Oak Ridge Turnpike. There are lots of brushy areas for birds and wildlife and miles of dirt paths for bikes in Haw Ridge Park. Rolling hills add some variety.
