The White Barn at Lucas Farm — Attraction in Oakland

On December 28th, I got a call from my wedding venue in Garrett County, and was told that it was no longer available (72 hours before my ceremony was to begin). Panicked, myself along with all me and my bride-to-be's family scrambled for how to salvage such a last minute disaster.

I posted on the Garrett County local Facebook page for help…and within a matter of minutes was given the information for Brittney and Matt, of The White Barn at Lucas Farm. Our wedding planner spoke to them, as their space is winterized at that time of year, and their immediate response was “we can help.”

What went from a nightmare scenario of major proportions, immediately went to relief and security in the hands of Brittney and Matt. The two of them immediately jumped into action, and started to de-winterize, and prepare their venue for a wedding happening in 72 hours. Our original venue also housed 30+ people of our bridal party and family, to which Brittney and Matt then offered their adjacent farmhouse and newly acquired property across the street for us to stay in. As they just purchased this property the month before, they then spent a day furnishing this house so that our family would be comfortable during our stay, which we were. (Both properties were beautiful and quaint, and extremely relaxing for us during our time there.)

The day came, we arrived to the venue and it was incredible. Idyllic, detailed with care, rustic and unique, and perfectly suitable for everything that we had planned. Brittney and Matt went above and beyond to make sure that everything we needed for our special day was taken care of. Our wedding was an incredible day of which we only have beautiful memories from, everything was genuinely perfect.

This brings me to this final thought. Not only did Brittney and Matt take us in when our other venue carelessly let us go with no remorse, not only did they ensure that we were able to still get married on our schedule, in the same way, with all our same thoughtful touches, and not only did they make sure all of our family and friends were taken care of (and worked with all of our vendors to make sure the day was an absolute flawless execution) they did it with kindness, compassion, empathy and genuine excitement.

I spoke with Brittney and Matt for a while the day after while cleaning up, and heard about their future goals and dreams, their vision for what they want to bring to Garrett county. There are no two people more deserving for your patronage than these two. Their heart is in their work, in the spaces they host events at, they have genuine care for the people they work with and whom will have some of their most special days on their property. Most of all they are personable and friendly, even under stress of a 48 hour turnaround! I can vouch that anything you look to do that involves working with them, you’re in great hands, and you’ll be pleased.

We can’t thank these two enough. I highly recommend and strongly encourage if you’re looking for venues in the Deep Creek area, to seek out Brittney and Matt’s various venues for your occasion. We got married at the White Barn in early October and we could not have imagined a more perfect day. From the first time we saw the venue two years ago, we immediately knew this was the place where we wanted to get married. Throughout the whole process, Brittney made everything so easy. She responded quickly with any questions we had - via email, text, phone calls, meetings. She was extremely organized and took so much of the stressful work off of our plates. We were able to attend a food tasting and were provided with many options to choose from. The food was standard wedding food - it was comparable to other weddings we’ve been to that serve their food buffet style with a large guest count. They were even willing to make some modifications to the dishes we chose to better fit our preferences. There are multiple on-site accommodations - including a beautiful farmhouse and a bridal suite, both of which we rented. It was super convenient being so close to the venue and having a space where the whole bridal party could stay. The bridal suite was perfect for getting ready in the morning - both hair and makeup were so excited to use this space! When it came to the day of, she made our day completely stress-free and kept everything running smoothly. The venue is absolutely beautiful - everything is well maintained and every little detail is thoughtfully displayed. Our guests are still talking about how stunning everything was. Our son got married at the White Barn in early October. The weather was beautiful and it was a perfect day. The venue was gorgeous and well maintained and was the perfect backdrop for a perfect day. It was a beautiful sunny day and umbrellas were provided in the ceremony area to provide relief from the sun. The cocktail hour is held behind the barn, again tables with umbrellas were provided as well as the ability to sit in the ceremony area, under the umbrellas. After the cocktail hour, guests moved to the upper barn area either by the stairs in the back, the path around the side or by golf cart, for those who could not walk. The inside of the barn was beautifully decorated and provided the perfect setting. We had the “Pittsburgh” cookie table that was well arranged and kept stocked throughout the night. The house on site was beautiful and ideal for the bridal party to stay. The “getting ready suite” was fully equipped making hair and make-up a breeze. Brittney managed the entire affair and it worked like clockwork, everything was on-time and well coordinated. We would highly recommend the venue to anyone.
