They didnât check anybodyâs splash pad badge except for mine when I brought my child.
I am covered in tattoos and Iâm wondering if this is why.
I questioned as to why this was, and the girl working fumbled around with her words and told me that they checked all the other peopleâs badges while they were on the beach. Well they also checked my badge on the beach.
To put the apple on the cake, one of the residents here came in trying to come to the girls rescue and then provided a lie. She contradicted what the girl said. She told me that the girl checked her badge whenever she entered the splash pad area. This was not the truth, plus the girl told me earlier that she checked hers while she was on the beach.
After I asked the question - the girl wirking âbadge checkerâ went and got her supervisor to come talk to me. I was approached very defensively. As her supervisor talked to me her lip was trembling angrily before I even said anything.
She asked why I was being confrontational and why I questioned her girl. I calmly told her that I asked why she did not ask for other people badges. She tried to tell me that they asked for everybodyâs badges. They did not.
Then she said loudly - youâre supposed to have a child to be in here!!!!! Like I was some sort of pervert without a child in a splash pad. I donât know if it was supposed to embarrass me or something - trying to make me sound like P Diddy, but I donât really get embarrassed like that.
I do have badges.
I thought about not writing this. But when I left the pad the supervisor was still there made a snarky âhave a nice dayyyyâcomment. I just took it as her being polite even though she obviously was not.
Whenever I walked back across the street the very heavy set badge checker glared at me and craned her head - like went out of her way - to give me a dirty look.
If it werenât for this - and the fact that the (adult) supervisor came over and started gossiping and talking about me with the two teenagers. (I was right around the corner getting snacks and she didnât know I could hear them). I might have left it alone and not written this. If youâve experienced discrimination, lies and immaturity here you...
Read moreMy husband & I moved to Lanoka Harbor about 6 years ago, from Toms River. We discovered the Ocean Gate Beach & Boardwalk.
This review is based on several walks on the boardwalk. We always felt safe walking the boards, at all hours. We love the scenery; sunrise, sunset, unique older and newer homes, ducks, boats, water, sand, jetskis, families, couples....its just a beautiful local beach. We actually like it more than walking boards in Island Heights, when we live in Toms River. In the summer, we love to walk the boards and then go to Dairy Queen for a treat. Also, we see lots of people walking and running, getting their steps. It's really great we have this option to walk along the beautiful Toms River. You can see the Seaside Bridge in the background. We wanted to provide just one general review of our experience in case others are looking for new area to...
Read moreNice beach to go to if you have smaller kids. Water is Barnegat Bay and doesn't have strong currents like the ocean would.
Hard to see under the water but doesn't get very deep until you're closer to the end of the pier.
I'd watch out for jellyfish and crabs when you're swimming. I've gotten stung a few times and highly recommend water shoes if you're going into deeper waters.
New splash park is fun for kids with a low cost to enter. Just a few sprinkler-like attractions but cleaner water than going swimming in the bay.
Occasionally Ocean Gate will have events here (usually...
