I just biked the top 12 miles of the trail. The only bathroom was at the end (at Hwy 50). There are trail side covered benches every 3 or 4 miles. You will really get a workout as the trail is very hilly. You will be shifting gears all the time. But the trail is well maintained. I just did 17 more miles from the trail head south of Hwy 50 to Hwy 52. The first mile is hilly but the rest is flat and level. No water but trail benches every couple of miles. Mostly rural and forested to the West and the Toll Road to the East. Over the last two days I completed the Suncoast Trail and the Upper Tampa Bay Trail (Total miles 46 one way. The South end is my preference .Less hilly and better Trailheads. The poorest one is at the North end ( No water or toilet or bench. Still want $3.00 for use of the trail.

This park has incredible potential! The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and I loved the opportunity to see some local wildlife. It offers many visitors, making it a great place to explore. My favorite part of the visit was definitely riding my bike on the off-road trails. They are fantastic, and I really enjoyed that section. My only caution is that the part of the trail near Veterans Highway can get quite noisy, so be prepared for that. Despite the noise, I had a wonderful time and would recommend this park to anyone looking for a beautiful outdoor experience.

This is the perfect biking trail. Almost no street crossings so you can get going fast and maintain your speed. The forests are beautiful and you will almost certainly see some wildlife. The only problem is there isn't water, other than some coolers at the trailhead.

Those who rate this trail 4 stars and up obviously have not biked (or ran) the full course of this trail, which I understand since it's 42 miles one way. I did and it's horrible. At Lake fern head, plenty of space, toilets, and water. Once you pass the 20 mile mark, it's desolate. No maintenance, no toilet, no water station, just a bunch of benches as if that's what I need. No!!! When I finally made it to the Brooksville trail head, the very end, I was quite happy and proud that I made it the 42 miles, half my trek. But I quickly realized that there was not even a bench to sit, no water station, no toilet. NOTHING other than a toll station for parking ticket. NO AMENITIES AT A TRAIL HEAD??? Cmon!!

I've done pretty much all the major trails in Tampa, this is by far one of the worse in terms of amenities. My advice, if you don't wanna die, you're gonna have to relieve yourself in the bushes and carry LOTS of water and don't even bother going pass the...

Great cycling path and workout. There have been comments about the trail paralleling the freeway and lack of cover. All that would be addressed by looking at the map first. We parked at Lutz lake and hit the beginning of the trail. We went 25 minutes before we had to stop and the only other intersection was a stop sign with no cars. We were able to get in a fast 35 mile ride. You could easily do 50+ miles and more including Starky park (surprisingly large and great paved paths) and Lutz Lake park. Fast, smooth and safe. I said its a great cycling route, its not a great bicycling/running route. If you want 5-10 miles and food/store options this is not the...
