Arcola Creek Park on Dock Road in Madison, Ohio, is hands-down my absolute favorite spot in town! This hidden gem is a nature lover's paradise with a dash of mystery and a whole lot of driftwood. First off, let's talk about the walking trail—it's like stepping into your own private nature documentary. You stroll through peaceful woods, and just when you think it can't get any better, bam! You're hit with a breathtaking lookout over the water. The view is so stunning it practically begs you to stand there for a while, just soaking it all in and thinking, "Yep, this is the life." Now, at the end of the trail, you'll find a beach that's basically a treasure hunter's dream. We're talking driftwood galore, sea glass for days, and enough smooth stones to keep your rock collection well-stocked until the end of time. On a windy day, the waves put on a show that rivals any action movie—splashing and crashing as if they’re competing for the "Best Wave" Oscar. But wait, there's more! If you're feeling adventurous and wander off the beaten path, you’ll discover a fungi wonderland. The mushrooms here range from "Is that one magical?" to "I'm pretty sure that one's from a fairy tale." It's like a scavenger hunt, except the prize is not getting lost (though, let’s be real, you might). And I can't forget the sunsets. The sky turns into a painter's palette of oranges, pinks, and purples, making it the perfect backdrop for some deep, dramatic reflection—or just some silly poses for your next profile pic. In short, Arcola Creek Park is the place to be if you're into nature, sunsets, and a little bit of driftwood hoarding. Just watch out for the mushrooms—they might be watching you too!

Well! My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip here today. Keys were locked in car within 2mins of arriving! Decided we'd enjoy the beach and worry about it later. A very kind ranger assisted with lock out after wavier by 7:30ish. Couldn't have been so grateful! Shout out to the rangers! Also the local DoorDash driver, who ( after finding out we left our water and cooler in the locked car) even went Above and beyond delivered Gatorade and juice in a cooler (even stopped at her house close by and grabbed ice for us! How's that for hospitality! A few heros not wearing vapes creating such an awesome experience regardless of hiccups along the way! Perfect cloudy day at Erie for us!

This park is a hidden gem in North Madison. It has a short and well maintained trail to a small unguarded beach. A few picnic tables and a wide open field to set your children loose on overlook Lake Erie. To the right of that is a short walk to the beach. I haven’t seen anyone swim here, but I’ve heard people do. The beach is mostly made up of a colorful and eye catching assortment of rocks. My son spends hours throwing them into the lake, but sometimes pauses to join my hunt for beach glass. I love this park and I’m so grateful it’s in Madison!
