We found Dundee Falls by word of mouth. I did a little research online and found this spot marked on Google maps, just south of Wilmot, Ohio. After exploring the area, I found out that this is 1 of 2 waterfalls in the area, and are part of the Beach City Wildlife Area, a division of ODNR (Ohio Department of Natural Resources). Each falls has its own parking lot. They are small parking lots and only this parking lot is marked as an ODNR Beach City Wildlife area. The other parking lot, on Camp Rd, is not marked as such. Supposedly both falls and parking lots can be reached by trail. The trails are not marked and one could easily get lost. For this parking lot, take the trail to the RIGHT. The one to the left is unkept and appears to be covered in poison ivy. The other falls only has 1 trail in, and the falls are located just below the trail, to the right, after you enter the woods. Biggest tip: BE CAREFUL. These trails are not well marked and not well kept. Lots of rocks and trees blocking and covering the trails. I do not understand why the ODNR does not have a proper trail map or trail markers for this property. It would really help! Unfortunately some of the rocks around these falls have been vandalized with graffiti. So sad that people have to ruin nature with their selfishness. Otherwise, this is a beautiful area and 2 beautiful falls, in comparison to what you would see in the Hocking Hills area of southern Ohio. UPDATE (October 2020): Visited this area 5 years later. Definitely more popular now. A few more signs posted at the parking lot. Someone put some homemade trail marker signs to get to the north falls from the south falls. That helped, especially with the leaves being on the ground, hiding the trail. The hike between the 2 falls is very beautiful. Found a mini falls just off trail, closer to the north falls, as part of the creek, along the cliff/ravine. So there are actually 3 waterfalls in this area. Graffiti still a problem. This should probably be converted into a state park, so that it can be patrolled, cleaned up, add proper trail signs, and put in better...

Dundee Falls: Excellent Hiking and a Beautiful, Rewarding Waterfall

Dundee Falls is an absolute must-visit for nature enthusiasts and hikers. My recent trip there was fantastic, characterized by challenging and scenic trails that led to a beautiful natural centerpiece.

The hiking experience is genuinely top-tier. The trails are varied and well-maintained, offering a great workout without being overly strenuous. We enjoyed paths that wound through dense, peaceful forest, offering stunning views and a wonderful sense of escape. Whether you're a casual walker or a seasoned hiker, the diverse terrain ensures there’s a path that fits your needs, making the journey itself a highlight of the visit.

The reward for the climb is the waterfall. It is a truly good waterfall—not just a trickle, but a powerful, scenic cascade that is incredibly picturesque. The viewing area is well-situated, allowing visitors to get close enough to appreciate the cool mist and the rush of the water without compromising safety. It’s the perfect spot to take a break, grab some beautiful photos, and enjoy the calming sounds of nature before heading back.

Dundee Falls offers the ideal combination of great exercise and natural beauty. Highly...

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The waterfalls are beautiful and it has amazing views. There is a large variety of spiders and wildlife and we enjoyed every encounter. The A path is decently easy to follow.

We spent four hours at the park which included A path, getting lost in the B/C paths, and backtracking on A.

The downside: There are no maps posted and it's nearly impossible to navigate the B and C paths correctly. There are an endless amount of forks that aren't labeled and when we tried to follow the C path, we got to a very dangerous cliff area. There appeared to be a path but it led to the railroads. Luckily it was dry when we went, as the fall could definitely be fatal. Do NOT take children or pets down the C path in any condition as the paths are thin, the cliff area isn't roped off/no railing, and there are no signs warning of danger. 3 stars only because there is no warning of danger on the C path and no indication that the C path has ended.

I hope the park labels the paths better for...

If you are anywhere near Central Ohio, and you don't have anything to do today, get in your car and come here right now! Okay I don't know why this is not a nationwide well-known destination for the nature loving community, but this waterfall is probably one of the coolest places I've been in a long time. It is right off the road, it is seemingly untouched by civilization and you would not believe the way the turtles are carved into the stones. It is a easy walk down to the waterfall you can literally stand under a waterfall in a cave without any equipment for repelling or hiking. Regular tennis shoes in the rain and with no heads up about accessibility, we were able to get all the way down to the Falls without falling. Lol breathtaking scenery and a connection to nature is just the tip of the iceberg when visiting this hidden gem. The elevation allows for a scenic drive in and drive away. Even with bad weather. You will not be disappointed!
