I try to support local farmers. I stopped at Fulton Farms for corn on the cob, cantaloupe and watermelon. I left with nothing. The ears of corn were small and dried out, I found a watermelon and cantaloupe. I went to pay for them, the watermelon was a small/mediumish round size, they considered it large and was going to cost me $10.99! I said I did not want it. So then I was going to get the cantaloupe only, but they would not take my debit card because I was under their limit. I went to my local IGA and bought cantaloupe, corn on the cob plus a couple of extra items, they were out of watermelon, and spent less than what their watermelon alone would have cost me. I am no stranger to local farmer's markets, I used to live in Logan County and frequented Hurley Farms, an amazing farmer's market! Unfortunately I have found nothing that compares to them around here as of yet. I will not go back to...
Read moreWent to the sweet corn fest too late accidentally & didn’t know the corn maze costed money (i go to a free corn maze every year 10 minutes away at Lost Creek). i went to the market first & no one told me they were shutting down so i went to the corn maze next & there was literally live music playing 20 feet from the corn maze entrance & no workers mentioned it costing money or it being too late. after going through the corn maze, the owner approached me & asked if i paid for the corn maze & said i was trespassing & told me to just go & not come back twice & that she spent 5,000 dollars on the corn maze & that “we know it costs money” like no most the corn mazes i’ve been to were free 😂 instead of simply asking for 10 dollars she wanted to ruin a customer of multiples years experience & get a bad review 👍🏻 will not be returning....
Read moreAfter verifying on the website, we drove from Columbus to pick strawberries - been looking forward to it all week! Get to the farm and notice the fields were closed, so we asked someone if there were any packaged strawberries we could at least buy. The woman we spoke to was very dismissive and rude, telling us that they had closed the fields yesterday (just didn’t feel like updating on their website) and shipped the packaged ones off to retailers. She did inform us, however, that the peas were available. This was great news, since peas and strawberries are basically the same thing! Really looking forward to our pea shortcakes and making some pea jam! Anyways, next time we’ll probably just stay in the city - no need to spend the gas and time to experience the same abusive consumerism that we can...
