We love traveling to free and off the beaten path things..Smolen Gulf bridge is currently the world's largest covered bridge. It is part of Ashtabula covered bridge tour. You can walk or drive across it. There are plenty of areas for pictures. There is a parking area with a pavilion that has display of local history and the trails you can walk or bike from there. They are currently doing a lot of work to the park and trails to improve it! You can also walk along river bank and picnic or look at the geological formations that show northeast Ohio, shale and sandstone with mixtures of granite mixed throughout. There is a historical Indian trail along the river as well. This is a great spot for individuals, couples or families with kids of all ages. It is pet friendly as well. There was a porta potty but no running water except for what's in the river. It's a quiet peaceful place to spend a few...

The perfect place to eat lunch in a beautiful well maintained Park atmosphere. The park maintenance people do a remarkable job of keeping it litter and vandalism free. The paved trail is quite and shady, offering park benches where you can sit down and relax. There are many side trails leading to the Ashtabula River, for the fisherman, or anyone who just wants to experience the beauty of the river close up. The covered bridge spanning the park is the longest covered bridge in the world, just a hop skip and a jump away in Geneva, Is the shortest covered bridge in the world. There are places you could easily launch a kayak, or canoe into the river. The summer brings horse back riding, a local stable brings horses and riders down to walk the trail, on my bucket list for sure. I am there to eat lunch on most of...

When we set out to visit this bridge on a beautiful, sunny, Autumn day we didn't realise that there was a park surrounding it. What a nice surprise that was! There are relatively flat, paved paths for leisurely hiking, plus picnic spots and plenty of room to walk along the Ashtabula River, which is pretty shallow in this area. Local families visit, plus people come from far and wide, because this bridge holds the renown of being the longest covered bridge in America. We met one fellow there to picnic with his family and to do some fishing. We both had our puppies too. If you want to get your heart going you can hike from the top Vista area near the bridge to the bottom and back or you...

Was visiting from Texas and my cousin took us sightseeing. This was top place on her list of things to show us. It was a rainy day but it was still a beautiful place to visit. The views were awesome and the bridge is a one-of-a-kind experience especially for my two kids who have never seen a covered bridge in their life until our trip to Pennsylvania. The Indian trails walking bridge underneath was also a wonderful thing to see and the kids enjoyed playing underneath by the water

It's...a bridge! Beautiful this time of year! If you pull into the parking lot there are signs with some information of the history of the bridge and the area. Down the big hill from the parking lot (you can drive down. There is another lot) there is a bathroom and a trail you can walk. To get far you'll need to cross the river, but the first part is paved and dry. I hear a lot of people complain about litter and homeless, but I have not seen much of either, myself.

Beautiful little lookout spot and covered bridge. Nice little spot to pull over and take in the view, read the information boards posted and learn a little bit of history. The colors in autumn 🍂 are outstanding. When my family stopped it wasn't too busy, but it was also a little chilly that day. Stopped towards the end on October. No cost to park or cross the bridge.
