I was extremely disappointed with our visit. It has changed so much from say 8 to 10 yrs ago. It's not even about the home itself and what it was to the people who stayed there. My brothers worked there to earn money for school. My grandparents were stewards( ran the place) back in the day. Our family is proud of that. It's all so overblown and has to be exactly like every other home( infirmary) in Ohio. I was also told that roll-off dumpsters were brought in and tons of stuff was thrown away. The gentleman there said well you ask for one wedding dress from the late 1800s /early1900 and you get a thousand. So you pitch them as well as all the items not necessary to the infirmary back in the day. I truly beg to differ with him. I'm so sad that Wood County isn't the focus as it used to be. Currently, they have tons of WW2 uniforms,...

Did not know this place was even there until I happened to drive by one day. Visited with a friend on a Saturday. There was no one else there but us and 2 workers. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman as soon as we walked in and then a younger lady came in and was a wealth of information. She explained so many things to us and instructed us on where to go for the self guided tour. There is so much history and artifacts in this museum. We found it very interesting. I wish more people knew about this. We walked around outside for a bit and was able to visit the cemetery and have a peek at all of the out buildings. Very interesting and...

I fall absolutely in love with this place Everytime I drove past it. The Rich history it contains, the structure of the present grounds, the extremely old cemetery it harbors, if I could live here I would. I remember decorating this museum for Christmas when I attended Penta, the staff said to stay within their limits because this place is haunted (that sealed the deal for me) I love anything paranormal. And yes, I saw the fingers. For those of you who isn't familiar with "the fingers" go have a look. You will see why. It is truly a sad experience for the poor soul who lost her fingers, but hey ... When Do you ever get to see...

So.... we actually never made it INTO the actual museum because there was an event going with demonstrations and the out buildings were open so we spent our time exploring those!LOL So much to see with people dressed in period pieces, showing their crafting skills and artists selling their works. They also had live war advancement moves with shooting which was fascinating to watch. We will be back for the Museum. The museum building had a entrance fee. The parking and reenactment fair was free. Lots of parking in grass field. Zero entry with no stairs but uneven grass/gravel/dirt throughout displays. Port a johns were available and clean.

You have to see this place! It's amazing! The current WEDDING DRESS EXHIBIT is outstanding! Our guide was the BEST EVER! Don't miss your chance to see these beautiful dresses accompanied by photos and stories of who wore them...quite romantic! There are rooms and rooms of dresses and stories. Even the history of THE WEDDING VEIL...very interesting. Don't miss this. We went for our 37th Wedding Anniversary...very special indeed!
