I arrived to camp. I prefer dispersed camping. I stopped by the main sign on my way in and read the costs and rules as I typically do every week all over the country where I camp on beaches, state parks, and other beautiful places that I can find. Within minutes of pulling up to my site, which there were dozens of, there were only maybe half a dozen people with trailers and RV's. A man named Tim claiming to be "The Host" there pulled up next to me and told me I needed to pay for the site, asked how many days I would be there, told me that my puppy who travels the country with me must stay on a leash (which she was and always is if required). Treated me like I was trespassing or as if I was doing something wrong. If he had mentioned things other than the rules he felt the need to inform me of as if I didn't have the ability to read signs, I wouldn't have given a one star. He felt the need to tell me what u couldn't do, failed to mention the showers weren't working, the bathrooms were being worked on, and that there was no water on site though there are sinks in the handicapped restrooms. You'd think someone so concerned about the things that go on there would spend some of his time cleaning up the trash all over the place, maybe taking care of the significant tire tracks here and there throughout the park, and be considerate enough to say hi or ask how my day was as apposed to clearly making me feel as if I wasn't wanted there since I wasn't in some huge camper or RV. Sorry the fifth wheel and camper were back in NC. No idea what this guy's issue is. Not to mention, how much trouble could I really cause with the sheriff station at the entrance to the campground. Definitely felt safe but this guys a nightmare to deal with. I woke up really early, began to make coffee and of course he I guess felt the need to get up to check things out again. I do have to say, if the place was taken care of it would be a great place to stay. It seems like whoever runs it, Not this Tim guy, fixes things, but if he is the host, he's a very bad one and pretty lazy as well. I was planning on two nights, cut it back to one and left. This guy should be educated on...
Read moreWe stayed in the campground, during the off season, end of summer. Plenty of available sites right by the water. Felt safe as there's a sheriff's office right at the entrance of the park. Reasonably priced. We generally only do paid campgrounds for overnights here & there, but for $12/night, this afforded us the ability to stay longer. This was a great escape from the summer heat & 50AMP AC. Utilities all worked great. Big Rig friendly as we are a 43' 5th Wheel. Curtis the host was wonderful & friendly. He welcomed us, sold us some fresh produce, & one morning when he came home with an abundance of fish from fishing the lake, he gave us some. The only reason I knocked down from 5 stars is the private showers are in need of special attention. But all in all, a great stay. We...
Read moreI cannot say enough positive things about this amazing place! It is a true gem and I am so appreciative of the awesomeness that all I can say as a full-time traveler is, if you haven’t stayed here, you are truly missing out! There is a beautiful lake with its own movie (called “Caddo Lake,” FYI lol), really great RV spots with water/electric for only $12/night, frisbee golf, and lots of beautiful birds, butterflies, and flowers! There are red wasps but they’re not aggressive, just freaky-looking. I love it here and we will definitely stay again if we ever are traveling through this area again! The people who manage the park are very nice and everyone was super friendly and respectful! No one ever bothered us except the wasps and even they were not that bad. Overall, 10/10...
