I hiked, if you could call it that, this trail just after the North Cascades Highway was opened in 2017. The trail was mostly clear for the first about half a mile then the snow began to build. By the time I finally made it to the lake the only way to identify the trail was the dye marks in the snow. On the way out it was still cool and crisp from the nights temps, but the mercury reached the mid 70's and the snow which was up to six feet deep became soft and traveling along the dye marked path become tricky as the crusty snow softened and I fell through in several places.
