This was my first time heli skiing, and it was such an incredible experience. We were very well informed on all safety protocols before getting our day started. They actually had to reschedule us to a later date a few days later (we were still in town) because the conditions were too unsafe with high winds and negative temperature at the top. They really knew what they were doing and we really appreciated being rescheduled, as it would have been miserable. Instead we got 8 runs on a blue bird day and still fresh pow a couple days later! Our group was a group of girls in our late twenties, we grew up ski racing together and our take was the skiing was pretty easy, we asked to go on steeper and harder terrain after the first couple runs. The runs weren’t super long, I would say average. We went on harder stuff later in the day when our legs were more tired, but our group worked up to it. It would have been nice to go on some harder stuff a little earlier but part of the experience is gaging everybody’s abilities. We didn’t feel unsafe/uncomfortable/scared at any of the drop offs at the top, totally Chill. We met the owners and they were so excited for us and so kind. Our guide was Sid, very experienced and extremely professional. Sid was such a fun guide and I highly recommend him!! Everyone who works there is so fantastic, and Ryan helped me out so much leading up to our trip, so great at responding to questions. I love North Cascade Heli, and they will...
Read moreMy bad experience was several years ago but still relevant. Since my buddies and I were coming up on our 25 year snowboarding anniversary, I thought I’d book a Heli trip especially since it was just on the other side of the Cascades. We arrived at the barn and were told the weather had moved in and we’d have to wait a little, which was fine because we had to do our Avi course. We were then told to start loading the Heli and we were off, we made which seemed like only a couple runs to me when our guide said ok this is your last run, I laughed but my buddy said it was and he’d been counting them. So we headed back to the barn, while removing our gear I noticed the secretary looking over at us confused, when she asked if we were back already ? Then she said she hadn’t even enough time to make our lunch and asked if we’d like a beer, where I replied yes maybe a half case as we were all pretty upset. From the time we left the Heli barn, made our runs and returned to the Heli barn it was less then 2 hours, I couldn’t fathom how you could spend a full day on the mtn as their website stated, and currently shows 8 hours, those skiers or riders must be extremely slow, taking pictures for hours, or hiking to hit some drops. To this day I don’t know how you could make it last 8 hours. Since this trip put a bitter taste in our mouth, we’ve gone the Cat trips route far more runs, cheaper and our...
Read moreAbsolutely epic day with Cascade Heli! It goes without saying that this activity has involved risks, but from the first moment, it was obvious that our safety was the NCH team’s first priority. We got safety briefings and were given the necessary equipment. We were originally scheduled for a Friday however the temperature was going be -38° with windchill. NCH decided not to fly that day, rightfully so, but they easily accommodated us the following Monday where the conditions could not have been better: bluebird day with godlike powder.
All the guides are very knowledgeable and experienced. We were lucky to ride with Sid, a seasoned guide who was very perceptive, kind, fun, safe, and told us what to expect. I will definitely fly and ride with Sid and the NCH crew again. Thanks NCH for an experience of...
