This was hands down one of the best museums I've ever been to. They have the not only the entire county's history laid out with multitudes of large displays but the whole regions as well. Step out back and there is an entire re created old town strip with everything from an old saloon, store front, barber, blacksmith, post office, and even an apple workshop among many other old pieces of equipment used to to just about everything. Many very old vehicles on display as well that could even be viewed without paying the 2$ admission per adult (kids under 15 free). And for a bonus they have the best display of older firetrucks I have ever seen. 4 different full size real trucks that look like they all run and all the history on them. Definitely a must stop and very worth it.

Even thought it shows open in google maps I would call to get their hours as it was closed when we stopped by this past Saturday in October. I should have check ahead. My fault as it is off season for most travelers. Too bad as I wanted to see the Frank Matsura photos and post cards. I do want to complement the historical society for placing wonderful historic information signs around the area. I enjoyed reading them all

I've come to our property for the last four years, and this is the first year that I really went exploring around town. This year I came across this amazing gem. I would highly recommend taking some time to stop by and see this place. It has a lot of really cool stuff to look at, especially if you are a history buff like myself!

My husband and I traveled North Cascade NP, and intentionally drove to this place to look around this museum from Winthrop on Memorial Weekend. But it was closed!!!! We had to waste 2 hours in and out to drive in our tight schedule. Before I got there, I checked their website, hours on Google map to make sure it was open, anywhere it says it's closed. Even when we arrived there it said "open 7 days week", no closed sign. I knocked the door but no one responded. Huge disappointment with this place. If it is a public place, they should be responsible with up to date information with their closing status,. It looks like now they updated in...

It really tells the history of the area in great detail and with absolutely fantastic relics of #yesteryear, theres fire equipment, #cowboy stuff, #farming & definitely a lot of #ingenuity from the people who lived there then & now, you gotta be resourceful in the kind of heat they see in the late spring & into the summer, it's been the same for generations, ask around, some families still reside here two, three or even four generations later & some I'd assume are still on the same land their Great Great Grandfather settled 100+ years ago! Definitely stop & see #OkanoganCountyMuseum on your way to #Penticton across the...
