I've been going to this state park for 40 years. Favorite spot #76, although a lot of the sites have direct access to the lake, all are good to great sites. This state park is 1 of the busiest in the whole state. You must reserve your spot 9 months in advance, and even then, you might have trouble getting a site. However, once you get all set at camp head into town. Where they have boardwalks instead of concrete sidewalks, country western theme throughout the whole town. Very cute. There is a candy/ice cream store on the corner of town...best ice cream waffle cones ever! Especially if you're there in July and the temp is 97° or warmer.. lol There are several dining places/restaurants/ pubs over looking the Methow river. Park your car and walk the whole town, explore the trails along the water as well as the assortment of many retail stores. Once you have visited this hidden gem called Winthrop & Pearrygin Lake State Park, you will be making it a favorite vacation spot from then on. Enjoy your stay there. People are so friendly that you don't...
Read moreGreat scenery, good campground, overall we we're not disappointed. The camping park is similar to most state parks. Our campsite did not have full hookups for the RV, but there were other sites that did have them. The restrooms had showers, but are not in the best shape. The grass in the camping spots were not that great, some dirt patches, lots of clovers, better than no grass though. The parking spots are mainly flat, some sections were more on a incline. The general park areas had better grass and looked good, there was no play grounds for the kids. The beach access was plenty big and had a good amount of sand. There is a boat launch in the park with trailer parking, but no docks for overnight morrage.
Even though the lake & park is close to town, the scenery makes it feel like you are much further out in the wilderness. We saw plenty of deer in the park, and there was even a brown bear on the other side of the lake. We plan on going back next year and I would recommend it for a long camping weekend...
Read moreThis was a beautiful lake, the main parking lot had a generous amount of space. There were a lot of picnic tables to eat on and a lot of grass area to do whatever you want. The lake itself was small but the water was clear and blue. There is a designated swimming area. People go out on jet skis/ small boats in this area. There are around 3 roads to get to the lake from the main road. the first one is a bit of a rockier drive and lands in an area that doesn’t have a lot of parking and the bathroom smells like hell. There’s a boat drop off area there and you can get to the lake but there is not as much space. The second road to the lake is a campground area so if you wanted to you could rent a campsite for a night or more and swim at the lake. The third road leads to where i was describing before with the designated swimming area, this area is best if you just came to swim for a day. Overall if you are in Mazama and getting pretty hot, you should definitely check out this lake. ps: DISCOVERY...
