I've loved Overholser since my dad took me here to go fishing over 50 years ago. LOL, we never caught anything particularly exciting shore fishing or from the the bottom of the dam, but it sure was a heck of a lot of fun. I would still recommend it for a parent/kid enjoyable experience. And I think the dam is neat as heck and fun to walk across. It's a rarity to be around when they open the gates, but REALLY cool when they do!!! Boating, nice kids park, other activities, the neat old Route 66 bridge to travel across. :) I'm a very amateur photographer and Overholser is a great local resource from the dam to the wildlife. Have gone through the years, always a good place to park alone or with friends to clear the air or the head, have a meal, enjoy some music. Example being what triggered this review request, my being there the other day having just been fired after working my butt off for 4 years and with the blues, and this amazing strong wind and mist was traveling along the lake, the couple of pics I attach won't do justice, and I just parked there and let the wind and mist blow across me with the window down and soak me and revitalize me and it was awesome. LOL, here I am a cranky old vet at 62 and yet again ol' Overholser gave me as good feeling now as it did...
Read moreEdit: knocked a star off for lack of bathrooms. Took my kid here (the park/courts on the south east side) and not only was birthday trash thrown all over, the bathrooms were padlocked shut and the one Porta potty was literally full of... lets just say it was TO THE RIM FULL.
fortunately my kid and I both decided it wasnt an emergency. IS THERE NO MAINTENANCE OR UPKEEP HERE? Its sad to see this beautiful lake that should be full of families and people enjoying nature, completely neglected and rotting.
Original review:

Electric meter was gutted, nets worn and sagging, fence kinda banged up. Some metal strip was pulled off the wooden boards on one side. Not sure who is in charge if upkeep, or if anyone even cares.
Drove around and discovered the old vineyard has been turned into a sort of mini farmers market/local-vendors place. Goats and pigs and wine and some food vendors. I never heard this was there so we stopped by. Was pretty neat. I recommend giving it a shot some weekend. North side...
Read moreLove this lake! Wish it was a swimming lake but that would be my only complaint! That and how busy it's gotten here lately but that comes with the growing population in this town I guess LOL. I've lived here since I was in third grade and I'm now 30. I love to go and just sit and watch the wildlife and look at the beautiful lake and scenery and just relax, my husband loves loves loves to go there to fish with my youngest son. They love to go to the damn walk on, it walk on the back side where you can go down and explore and fish. It's just amazing. We haven't even tried all that extra activities they've just recently started doing there so six stars if I could now that they started that stuff. 👍👍🥰🥰 Update I now LOVE...
