Understanding the Trail of Tears and the Cherokee Nation in history books is disillusioning as to what really happened. Visiting the heritage center is the best way to fullly undeerstand the pight of the Cherokee Nation ad othere Indian tribes.
We have made numerous visits to the site and taken our friends along with us so they could understad the history. Each time we go we come away with moree knowledge of things we missed. During the visit I was able to solve a decades long question regarding my supposed Cherokee background, "not Cherokee". It was finally confirmed after my dad had his DNA tested and we are Enslish, Irish and German.
The museum layout and exhibits are well designed and very easy to follow. The staff on the grounds in the "Living Village" are very sharp to their culture and the narratives are well scripted.
