My job, which we aren't even going to discuss gives me insight into lakes. There's few lakes in Oklahoma that I'll swim in; Skiatook is one However. Tall Chief is a Corps of Engineers park, as such, it's clean and well maintained. Skiatook is one of those lakes you can stick your leg out and see your toes cause the water is so clear. The beach is sand, though I believe it's artificial dumped in as the lake is clay bottomed. The Marina on the other side of the cove rents boats. The rate during the week is great. Because there is no sewer hookup we used the on site showers and they are so clean I was shocked but downside is that it is so hot in the bathrooms that I could only tolerate a cold shower. The gates lock at 10 (which is clearly stated in the registration information when you make reservations online), which I actually like.
