This place deserves no stars but at least one is required to post. I work for a Childcare Center and we took my class to this place yesterday (7/18/17) morning. When I called about a month ago to schedule the field trip, the lady I spoke to was real nice. She told me that we would be greeted at the entrance and given a tour with a tour guide around the place. She said the children would be able to interact with the animals and even get to pet some of them. Because we were a group, we were told it would be $8 a person. She also told me the entire tour would take about 2 hours. I called last week and spoke to the owner. I let him know that my group was going to have 4 less people. I wanted to check if the admission price would change. He told me we would still be charged $8 a person. It's a good thing I asked for $10 ($2 extra was going to be used to get the children a snow cone afterwards) because when we get there, we were charged $10 each. We got there around 9:50am and two girls came outside to greet us. I went inside with one of them to pay. She asked what time we planned on eating lunch. I told her that we were told the tour would take about 2 hours and we planned to eat lunch after. I walked out and the other girl told us where to begin the tour and where the bathrooms were and that was it. No tour guide was provided and many of the "prison cells" the animals were held in had no sign or label on them to tell us about the animals. All of the animals, except for the turtles, looked hot, miserable and lifeless. The tigers and bobcat (I'm assuming that's what it was considering there was no information on the cage) had no water in their buckets. The tiger was panting so hard laying under the shade. The monkeys had a small bucket connected to a rope where the children could put food in and send it up to the monkeys. The only thing in the food bucket were dead insects and trash. When we walked past the hyenas, there was a strong smell of dead animal. Most of the animals were not even active. We finished up our self guided tour in about 30 mins. I took my kids to sit at the tables near the front office. There were workers on the site that were doing maintenance work. The owner came out and was very rude to them. When we finally found a worker, we asked if they could bring our ice chest with food down to us. It took them a good 30 mins just to do that and it was only us and 6 other visitors there at the time. The children asked the girl if they were going to get to see animals and pet them. She told them yes and that she would be right back after she goes to get the animals to bring out. We waited a whole hour, no exaggeration. We finally packed up and left. No one came out to stop us or ask us why we were leaving. They knew we were there on a field trip. We asked for our money back and got no luck. My children were very unhappy. We will never be going back. Please don't waste your money on this place. The staff are rude and just sit around in the shade on their phones. My director reported them to ASPCA when...
Read moreMy experience with Tiger safari for my child's 6year birthday party. We booked our party 1month in advance for a set price of $200 with a $50 dollar deposit. This included a party room, a tour,15 guest, $5 for any additional guest, and from 3-5. We showed up at 3pm with 20 people to a staff that was completely unaware that we were coming. NOBODY knew what room we were scheduled for and we stood around for 20 minutes not knowing what was going on. Finally a man behind the counter found a sheet of paper that had our price written on it and we explained to him we have 5 additional guest. I PAYED THE BILL!! Our room that they assigned us was filthy and extremely hot because air conditioner was turned off because they were unprepared. We had no guidance with how the party would be handled so it was a totally up in the air on how it works. its 3:45 when we finally get settled into our room. We celebrated my sons birthday party and then had to walk back to find our tour guide. We walked around and looked at the animals which was actually fun and interesting. Keep in mind it was HOT outside since the party was on July 30th, no big deal because we had a air conditioned animal interaction planned......WRONG they made us stand outside in the heat while they came from inside with 4 pets that we could hold. what a joke!!!! The man over the 2 way radio said they had VIP guest....yeah right that was a bunch of BS. After the dehydration session we went to the inside where there was a room with plenty of seating to accommodate our whole party just setting vacant. Its about 4:30 at this point and being exhausted and hot we decide party was over. The man then proceed to try and make we pay again after he tried to Con my brother in law out of money for clay that his son accidentally opened but his wife already paid for. He argued that I was undercharged and that I had 9 additional guest........he was totally lost. The tour guide said no they had the 20 guest and he said just forget it. This guy is very arrogant ,rude, ignorant and I WILL Never step foot on that property again. Terrible experience I highly recommend to use caution when planning anything with The owner...
Read moreReading some of the negative reviews here is sad, but I can understand where some people are coming from. I’m currently at the tiger safari park for the second time with my family, with children aged six, eight, and 10. We were here a year ago during a 30 day, 7000 mile national park tour, where we slept in a tent for 28 nights.
You will hate or love your time here based on your expectations, no different from when you are expecting a car when you buy a motorcycle. Once you meet the owner, it’s clear that he is a big picture kind of guy, and the details are not his priority. The picture of an elephant, holding him by his trunk, should give you a sense of his sense of adventure and priorities.
This place was designed for children and kids at heart and after visiting Yosemite, Yellowstone, and 10 other national parks, this was the highlight of a 30 day adventure for my children.
The staff here were extremely kind to my children.
It’s true, that the hut has some cobwebs and some nail pops that your kid might stub their toe on, but there are very few places in the country, where you can bottle feed a zebra, or hold a kangaroo in your arm, when a storm rains out your mega VIP tour and the stuff scrambles to do the right thing. Your kids won’t be reprimanded for yelling or running .
Like so many other things in life, it comes down to expectations. To go to a national, park, campground and complain about the cleanliness of the bathrooms is silly, because you know what you’re getting yourself into. The website, and the owner, are not very clear with communicating or detail oriented, but this is a very special place, a diamond in the rough, with a bit of mud on it, and if you approach it with that mindset, your kids will remember it forever.
I’m doubtful that those criticizing the condition and nourishment of the animals have any expertise on the matter, but the people here clearly love animals and children.
If you’re the kind of person who is afraid of getting dirty, getting scratched or getting a splinter, go enjoy a hotel 😀
For context: we stayed 1 night last and this year in African Hut #1 and did the...
