The Blue Ridge mountains are deserving of their name, featuring a stunning blue haze. We have never been disappointed when visiting any part of these picturesque mountains in North Carolina, Tennessee, or Georgia. Whether traveling through or vacationing, we always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The hiking trails and campgrounds are breathtaking. Standing on the mountaintops, breathing in the clouds and cool mountain air, is invigorating. The numerous adventures available in these mountains, including gem mining, hiking, camping, and tubing, ensure that there is never a boring moment. We appreciate the reopening of Interstate 40 and extend our gratitude to the hardworking road crews who have made this possible. Although significant work remains to be done in Asheville and surrounding areas after the flooding, the local residents have shown remarkable resilience and kindness. If you are in no rush to get where you are going it is a beautiful scenic drive with plenty of places to stop off to hike, observe wildlife and visit living history sites. Speed limit is 40mph and the road is not busy at all. Seeing places that haven’t aged much since they were first discovered/settled is pretty cool. There are tons of breathless vistas and landmarks. If you are lucky you may see a black bear or two! Wifey made a good decision to want to check it out. Bring snacks and make sure your tank is full of gas before you enter the national park as there are long stretches between exits in some sections. Don’t forget you camera too!
