My family loved traveling the BRP. We did about 40 miles from Asheville to Little Switzerland. We stopped at almost all the overlooks and Mount Mitchell. We wanted to take a back road to reach the BRP but 3/4 up the road it was closed off and had to add the round about way to our travel. Although the drive is mountainside it is very manageable and quite safe. The views are fantastic. Pleanty of areas to rest especially Craggy...

The BRP is one of the greatest roads to travel if you love scenery; especially mountains. As with most mountain roads, some areas need a little work due to freeze/thaw cycles, washouts, mud/rock slides, and other road-damaging issues. Every once in a while, someone will have a mishap such as the driver who went off the road in these pictures just north of NC-80 on...

Beautiful drive ! In Spring , the photo is your view. I snapped these at Craggy Gardens. Autumn is also spectacular, as the foliage along this ride will take your breath away! Many interesting things to see along the way. Not many facilities, however. But don't let that stop you. CL
