This had to be the best stop we had at this location, since we just loved the movie “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” and cannot remember how many times we have seen it over the years. And now, a chance to visit Captain Brittles cabin and to it full of memorabilia from that movie. The best part, it was completely free to visit, and we had the place all to ourselves. The parking spaces are very limited near the cabin but there is additional parking down below and there is a little bit of a walk.

The Gouldings potato cellar was used for the exterior of Capt. Nathan Brittles' (John Wayne) cabin in the fort in John Ford's technicolor masterpiece SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON (1949). It is preserved, and the interior conformed to the film's cabin interior (shot in Los Angeles). The film is a stunning portrait of Monument Valley, and usually clips from it are running in the adjoining museum.

it's ok... the museum is really were the stop is. the cabin is very small...and with the plexiglass up, not really much to see or do. however, the museum is full of nice tidbits of info about all the movies shot in the valley and the history of the hotel.
