HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Spent 2 nights in December at the campground with our travel trailer. Windy and cold the first night, but nevertheless a beautiful night right on the lake. Full hookups (W, E & S), including cable. Total of 9 RVs in the park this time of year, mid-week. Grounds and individual sites are very clean. Restrooms and shower facilites are IMMACULATE (as well as heated). Very friendly staff. Tom was very helpful on arrival. This was our first time at this park and it came highly recommended to us by friends. Not much to see or do in town of Opp just 2 miles away, but if you enjoy a nice, clean campground with lakeside sites, this is it. (Even primitive campsites are on the water's edge.) You can reserve a spot in the campground, but NOT a specific site. Not a problem though as all by 6 sites are on the water (those 6 are back in treeline to break any wind and probably quieter during the summer crush). But all sites are wide and nicely accessed whether back in or one of the 4 or 5 pull thrus (we were on #16).

Frank Jackson’s is a nice place for relaxing and unwinding. WiFi is provided and it makes all the difference with streaming shows and ball games. Unfortunately, the children’s park is a good distance from the campsites, so keep that in mind if you have kiddos that want to play independently. The views are great for the RV sites along the lake, with decent shade for the majority of those sites. There are a few sites on the backside of the campground, that aren’t shaded at all and do not have lake views, but you’re close to the bathroom and bathhouse, which is large and kept tidy. However, the bathroom that’s located in the tent camping section, is super sketch, but it serves its purpose. Side note: don’t bother going to the DG Marketplace on Main St. Our encounters have been less than pleasant, even for the simplest of purchases.

Drove over from Enterprise area to explore the park and nature trails. There are only a few trails and most all were in and out trails and crossed over the main road in the park. The biggest one- Magnolia trail, which starts near the boat launch area, had a bridge that was down. Which I get can happen, however there was no signage or warning of it being down, so had to just turn around and walk back from where I came from. The lake was very serene and there were lots of beautiful birds here. Which makes it a nice park overall, but could see how the draw here is more for camping and fishing.

The park is nice. However, here's my experience. First things first, the staff: I don't know who I spoke with working at the front, but absolutely phenomenal job! He was polite, welcoming, and very informative. There was a stray dog running about trying to get people's food, and this staff member took it upon himself to try and track the dog down, walking through the woods trying to find it, and get it home. Just a very very, friendly individual.

The campsite: I camped at the primitive camping. The campsites are VERY close together. Some of them share a water spigot, because they are so close. Each primitive site has water and an outlet, which is awesome. The campsites have pads for tents, which is not in grass, but puts the tent right on gravel, so be warned about that and prepare for extra padding beneath you in a tent. the sites are near a "bathhouse" which is just a single restroom, with a short in the wiring because the light flickers constantly in the front hall, outside the bathroom. The actually bathroom is a single sink and toilet, and no working light. So bring a flashlight or just risk it. The sites are right on the lake, which is very nice.

My experience: This is NOT on the park, but my experience. The family beside my site decided to set up an industrial light shining on their tent. Because the campsites are so close together, that light looked like the sun decided to come out early. It was WAY too hot for a tent, (though I had both tent and hammock setup) so I was in a hammock, and all I could see was that light shining throughout the park. they were loud and shouting from 3 different sites, back and forth, as late as midnight. there is a 10pm quiet time that is supposed to be in place, again not blaming the park management on that. The lake seems to be a good fishing spot, but there was a boat running up and down the lake disturbing all the fish, and I was unable to fish in it. Due to that boat creating a wake throughout the entire lake.

Overall, I left early. Just between the heat of summer (bad planning on my part) and the closeness of the sites combined with Percy Jackson and Rays of Sunlight, I couldn't get sleep, and couldn't enjoy...

Rlly, I had to pay to get in here ????? I fished from 4:30am to 10:37 am and caught one bass. I know how to fish. This was just outrageous. For 1. The boat ramp is just awful. 2. U have to to walk to far to get to boat ramp. 3. The fish attractors are a joke do not waist ur time or gas to even go to them. 4. There is a hazardous waterfall by the dam that could rlly hurt someone. WE ALMOST FELL DOWN I WAS NOT InFORMED OF THEM DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. 5. I am bill dance’s grandson and I have been fishing for 3 or four weeks. And I everywhere I go I catch fish. Except this place. 6. There some kind of object sticking out the water by the bridge I almost hit one with 75 Johnson (electric choke) 7. There is grass everywhere in the pond also watch out for abnormally large fish that seem to like to stay at the surface I HIT ONE WITH MY BOAT (the 75 Johnson electric choke) 8. There is a large concrete thing by the dam and I lost my 300$ bill dance special custom (combo) as I fishing off of the object and dropped the dang thing. 9. People were also staring at me weird for some reason. 10....
