We ended up at Pioneer Road Park today and this park has a cute western theme to it. The cactus climbing wall is exceptionally cute. The horse face though is slightly weird, but the kids liked trying to slide down it's face.
Those covered wagons are really adorable, but they're really for the little kids/ toddlers. The slides kinda give it away size wise. Bigger kids might want to climb in, but they really need to be careful, there's this bar inside that's like, right at head height if you're not tiny. Both my 5 year old and 8 year olds hit their heads hard because they weren't paying attention and now have huge bruises on their foreheads.
The actual playground part isn't huge, its fairly small. But the kids were fine with it, they still managed to have fun.
There are bathrooms and they were actually clean when we went? And a drinking fountain, although the drinking fountain didn't exactly have good water pressure flow. That shaded picnic area seems nice but a family was there having a birthday party so we didn't get a chance to use the sheltered bench area. But as a plus there are benches scattered around under some trees too, which is nice.
Saw a splash pad thing too, we didn't use it since it seems like it isn't exactly open yet, but looks like it'd be awesome when it's hot out.
There's definitely plenty of space for those wanting a picnic on the grass or to run around a bit. When we went, there was a badminton net set up over in the grassy area.
Overall, cute place, especially for little ones who fit the wagons better! Just keep an eye on taller kids near...
Read moreFun park that is themed "pioneer" -- complete with covered wagons. A couple more swings than I've seen at most parks. Plenty of shade, tables, benches. Cute, covered bbq area for parties; a small walking trail that goes around the circumference of the park; big grassy hill; restrooms; and I believe a half basketball court. And bonus: cute water feature area for kids to get wet during the summer. (I think last day is Sept 30.) Also, location has a "tucked away" feel to it. One of our favorites. Parking can be limited right in front but if it's full you can drive around off Jamboree to park in the Salvation Army parking lot and there are steps from there right down...
Read moreCool spot! Really just pulled off because traffic was insane, if you know the area heavy traffic is typical. Pulled in and hung out in my car while the rain poured down. The rain turned to a drizzle and I decided to go for a walk about. I WISH I KNEW THIS PLACE WHEN MY KIDS WERE YOUNG very well maintained and a step back into time where the likes of me would've been denied entry. That was then and now as I walked the ground with a few locals committed to their dogs walking schedule noting their heads as we passed by on the back circle trail. Truly a gem! Can't wait for the grandbabies to come visit ❤️ we'll make...
