Good parking, good water access, but bad homeless problems.
This is a nice little park right along the main road with plenty of room to park your vehicle and big rigs, but their relaxed camping policy hurts the park.
I’m traveling the country in my RV so finding a spot like this to spend the night is great, but there are lots of people abusing it. I saw a few people with really beat up rigs surrounded with trash. They would walk around with their shirts off, and their aggressive dogs ran around off leash.
The bathrooms reflected this unregulated camping. The mens bathroom had one stall, and the hinge was broken off from someone kicking in the door. No way to secure the door whatsoever, meaning if someone innocently tried to use the stall while you were in it they would walk in on you doing your business.
If I go through The Dalles again, I’d do everything I can to not stay anywhere in town. All RV parks have poor reviews, the town has bad people in the area, and this...
Read moreI came here for the first time three years ago with my four kids. It was a lovely park, clean restrooms, a table to sit at to eat our lunch, etc. It was a great experience. I've stopped there a couple other times since, usually to use the restrooms and stretch our legs after a few hours in the car (we make the trek from Portland area to Utah quite often). It's always been great. In the last week, we stopped there to use the restrooms, and it was honestly horrifying. There was a busted up car up on blocks near the dock. There was garbage all over the place. The restroom was disgusting; there was garbage all over the floors, it smelled terrible, and one of the toilets was overflowing with... Stuff. 🤢 That was near the dock, but in the past I've used the other restrooms there and never had a problem. For fun, we drove past the other restrooms and they looked fine 🤷🏻♀️ it's almost like there's two...
Read moreThis park has a really beautiful place to lay out a blanket after driving for a while. It's also got a bathroom that is usually pretty clean. It's on the Columbia River and you can stop and put your feet in the water and be in the sun far enough away from the highway if you want. You can even float from the shore or launch a boat off the ramp at the far end. Sometimes there is overnight camping but not always, and when there is it's free for 14 or so days, although it can be loud at night since it's near the highway and theres a train track next to the parking lot. This park is connected to Celilo Park Indian Reservation, so it deserves respect. There is a dumpster for throwing garbage in... use it. Clean up after yourself please! Great place to take sunset photos over the river. Small playground at the far end for the little ones. Just a nice little place to stop...
