We couldn't find vacancy anywhere and we needed a place to car camp. It was like 1am and we decided to roll in and test our luck. Signs posted "no overnight parking" but we saw an RV and said let's just see how this goes?
Before we even got comfortable a police officer rolled in and spotlighted us. We were like oh great here we go. He rolls up, gets out and walks up.
Hey how are you guys doing tonight? You just hanging out for the night?
It felt like a trick question. But we were honest. Yeah, couldn't find vacancy anywhere so we figured we'd try here.
He said "you guys are fine. It isn't peak tourist season quite yet. There's only a few cars here, you guys are totally fine for the night. This is the last time I'll bother you tonight, get good rest"
It was legit the nicest encounter I've ever had with law enforcement, ever. I just woke up from amazing sleep and I had to write a review I was so pleased with that cop.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreA beautiful sandy beach. It is nice to not lug your gear for a relaxing day on the beach, however there a a few ugly humans that make it not worth it for me. Those that drive too fast are annoying at least and dangerous at worse. What really made up my mind to skip this beach next time a day trip sounds nice was the two people, each in white trucks and driving together, that drove right up to me and my dog. It was a windy day, I did not hear the approaching trucks and I was facing the other way. I turned to see a truck so close I could touch it. As I looked at the driver of the first truck he gave me a wave, it felt aggressive. I continued walking and moved out of their way. As the second truck drove past me he angrily yelled something unintelligible out of his window. At first I felt like I had done something wrong. But, wait, I was just playing with my dog who was at my side and under my control. Is this a beach...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place spans roughly 14.6 miles that you can actually drive your vehicle on. If you plan to do this, please be aware of how to drive in sand. Air tires down, donāt park where your vehicle starts to sink, watch out for obstacles, people and animals. Speed limit is 25mph but I usually go slower to enjoy the view. During high tide the water comes up high enough that portions of the beach are impassable by car. Recommend 4x4 with recovery straps and shovels. If you get stuck most people will stop to assist you and their are also the Sonās of Beaches that roam the area to help stuck vehicles. Aside from that itās a wonderful place to check out the ocean and have a nice little fire. Be careful in the water and know your limits. Also check out the ship wreck down by Fort Stevens. Cheers...
