The experience I had here was amazing! I work in long term residential care for people with disabilities and a coworker and I decided to bring two of the residents we work with to the petting zoo. The owners were phenomenal and reached out ahead of time to inquire about any necessary accommodations and to get to know a little bit about the residents in order to make this a comfortable and fun experience for them. It brought me a tremendous amount of joy to see the level of effort she put forth to limit the possibility of overwhelm. As we went through the tour, she was extremely kind and patient with both of them and was very mindful of their comfort levels even when it may have been difficult for them to communicate them. She happily slowed the pace when she could tell that they needed it and was tremendously supportive with helping them to become comfortable with the animals that made them a little more nervous. On top of this, I also thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the animals and interacting with them when I could. On some the drive home, the residents talked excitedly about how cool the petting zoo was and the experience had them in a good mood for the rest of the day.
I cannot stress how highly I recommend making reservations for a tour. Not only is it fascinating and exciting to interact with all of the animals, but I have had nothing but positive interactions with the owners who went above and beyond in atypical circumstances without even being asked to. After hearing about this, a coworker of mine has excitedly reserved spots on a tour for her and her kids and I will absolutely be coming back with my six year old cousin. It was such a welcoming and fun environment and is undoubtedly worth the trip,...
Read moreWe took our 5 1/2 yr. old grandson on Saturday, August 7. I should have called to make reservations for me, husband and grandson. Linda was so welcoming, considering she did have another group, and for the future we know to check availability. The cost was $10 for each of us and under 2 is free. This is not your normal petting zoo. Our grandson got to hold a parrot, snakes, many different varieties of bunnies and guinea pigs. He got to feed and pet kangaroos and wallabies, and got to see a joey in it's mother's pouch! There are two large Emu, alpaca, a miniature pony, a very large pig and sheep. And many different bird species! Linda is so patient with children and knowledgeable (and loving) of her animals. This lovely petting zoo is well worth the trip to Prineville. Our grandson wants to go back and I know he will love it a second time. This is a place for all age groups, you will leave with a smile on your face! ...
