If I could leave less than a star I would. The hall and grounds are beautiful, however I'm not sure that makes up for the amount of money you pay and the service you get. I was MOH in a wedding here last month. It started with the food tasting, we had set a time to meet with Ron, we showed up and he was not there, nor did anyone at the restaurant know anything about it. Then the rehearsal dinner, we reserved the extra room off to the side of the cafe, and Ron again did not communicate this to the restaurant. We had just under 20 people, and it took over two hours to get our food. They were taking orders by table, and the first table had their food before the last table had even placed their orders! Then the wedding. The bride went to order a mixed drink (as they had paid for beer & pop, and they were told there would be a cash bar), and nope, they only had the beer and wine. This would have been fine, but the bar tenders supplied did not know how to tap a keg. After the first keg, they tapped the second incorrectly and just let foam pour into pitchers. It was taking 10 min or more to get a glass of beer! They would pour a little, let it set, pour the foam into another pitcher, and repeat until the glass was only half beer half foam. On their website it had said hall rentals were 6 hours. Nothing detailed in the contract for time. The day of, we were told it's only 5 hours. We got into the hall about 6:30 and were made to stop the reception and start cleaning at 11. Convenient that the very next day the website had been taken down. They have been nothing but unprofessional in fielding the complaints from the bride & groom. In the end, not worth...

Read moreThe German American Festival is so cool! Live bands, giveaways from the top of the glockenspiel and the mascot is adorable.
For adults, I recommend the special GAF shot, which is totally Instagram worthy. Food wise, gotta have at least a bratwurst with sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard and a side of potato pancakes with applesauce.
Pro tips:
Go in the evening. I had to leave after two and a half hours before I got heat sick.
Bring lots of money. It's $10 to get in and all food and drink costs tickets. Any souvenirs (and you're going to want them) are cash of card. Lederhosen and dirndl aren't cheap, since they're the real thing. I highly recommend a hat to avoid sunburn.
Bring water. Lots of water. It's a festival season gotta-have and there's lots of beer on tap, so stay hydrated if you've got plans tomorrow. Hot sun, beer, and jagermeister without water means tomorrow is going...
