So, I am editing my review of Paschal Winery. My initial review gave it one star because I couldn't get service and they were unfriendly and snoody. I ended up leaving because I couldn't get served. However, I gave them another try and was more than impressed and surprised. I even got a membership. The atmosphere is to die for. The wine is superb. In fact, the wine is so good that I joined their wine club. I also went to their Fork and Cork which they have every Wednesday, reservations required. They have a caterer that comes in and serves dinner. I think it goes from 6-8. It was fabulous. Just went the other afternoon for a wine tasting and was treated with individual respect and attention. The wine server asked me to give her my next wine tasting choices and she would come to my table and fill rather than me going up to the counter for my next tasting. Their wine club only requires 2 BOTTLES PER QUARTER. Usually, you have to buy a case every three months and since I can't drink that much, I never join. This one is reasonable and I will drink 2 bottles per quarter (actually a little more). Highly...
Read moreI think I'm in love this winery. I mean, we've just started this relationship but, I got a good feeling. Its a little bit of a drive to get here but its a fun drive. You'll really like it once you arrive - the grounds are beautiful. The tasting room is lovely; it looks like its used for events, too. In fact, I know it is because while we tasting a woman came in and sequestered our host to confirm details on an upcoming event. I took the opportunity to walk out onto the balcony overlooking a pond and vineyards. But, here's where they got me: my first taste of the Viognier. I taste a lot of wine, routinely. You learn to differentiate between wines based on minute degrees of variations on the minor pallette scheme. When a wine comes in swinging major variations in flavors profiles, it gets your attention. It can be risky: too much, too bad, or, a homerun. This was like watching Edgar Martinez knock it squarely out. yeah, really. The rest of the flight was also very interesting and tasty. The semi-sparkling is very exciting. Not many winemakers have the cahonas to do this. It works. We became members...
Read moreSorry, can't concur with the generally favorable reviews of this place. We're locals here in the Valley and we taste at quite a few wineries - generally, the quality level has been on a sharp upward slope in the last year or so. Unfortunately, in our opinion, this is not the case for this winery - the wines lack the depth and finesse of the better wineries in the Ashland area. Five bucks won't kill anyone, but we were disturbed that the tasting room applies a $5 fee for tastings when they stack all of your glasses in a metal holder that you carry off to your table - doesn't add a nickel of cost to them (actually saves time since they can do all the pours at once) - shows a gap in the hospitality quotient that we expect. And when we were ready to check out we didn't appreciate having to wait until the hostess completed a discussion with a lighting contractor - first things first, guys! I will say that their location is excellent and the...
