Positives: Jaynie whom I made my reservation through was very kind and helped me super quickly! The park female park staff were very helpful. The park itself if nice, the kitchen area is nice and clean and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The space itself is huge and could accommodate hundreds. One of the female park staff brought activity kit for the kids which was super nice!
Negatives: I made a reservation and paid to be here. I rented for the day a "half shelter" and was told I might have to share with another group but the odds were very low due to the time I made the reservation. Okay, no problem either way. We arrive, see my name written on a white board. I don't see any other parties listed but when we pull up, there was a couple in the shared kitchen area watching T.V. Also to note we arrived a little after noon. We thought it was kind of weird and didn't think much of it. We had our kids, some friends and family with us as well as three dogs. I decided to say hi, just to break silence and the male said hi back and that was it. We set our things up and then went to set up our volleyball net. Soon after, one of the park attendants came over to us to ask how things were, and we said everything was fine. She then told us that the two people on the other side were there having a picnic and that she let them know that there was a private party coming who had rented the other side. She said they told her they wouldn't be there long. I wasn't bothered by their presence, it was just a little uncomfortable as they kept watching where we were walking and what we were doing. Still, I just wanted to enjoy our time there and not worry about it too much. After we got the volleyball net up and started playing, a male caretaker decided that was the perfect time to begin mowing the lawn literally right behind us. I went from being a little irritated to annoyed as we had to stop the game to watch him mow the lawn as it was too dangerous to continue playing. After this we went back to playing for about 20 minutes until a different couple, walking their dogs walked through our area and sat with their dogs in our rented shelter area. I was really blown away by the fact that people would do that. We decided we would need to go and be physically present in order to feel okay with our items being unattended. So we did, their dogs and our dogs were trying to get at each other. Barking, growling, the whole nine. We did not ask them to leave as we felt us coming back into our area would be enough of a hint, and it was. They moved and sat at a picnic table several yards away. The thing is, I don't mind sharing. I just ask for common courtesy and a little respect when you see someone is clearly using a space. I got the impression from the park employee that the couple who was there before we arrived did not pay for the space and they were just "having a picnic then leaving". They did not leave. They slowly packed some of their things and would walk back and forth from their van, stopping to watch us occasionally. They had totes stacked on the picnic tables and would just continue watching us like they were waiting for us to leave. At 2PM we were getting tired of it and we left. We paid for the space from 10AM-8PM. The reason I am irritated is because I had to pay for this.. I paid to have this disappointing of a time. This was for my daughters birthday and we did not have a good experience here. If you are charging people to be here, why charge some and not others? What is the point? So people like me pay to enjoy the park for the day, only to be driven out by random people showing up and giving off vibes like we just intruded on their territory? This was just weird and not a pleasant experience. I don't know what you can do about things like this happening but there are things that can be controlled like the lawn mowing and letting people just come hang out in areas for free while others have to pay. I am a local to the area and have been to this park many times. This was my first...
Read moreIt's a pleasing place to go for a stroll. As long as you aren't bothered by the honking of all the geese, Mallards and other Waterfowl that congregate in several areas.
There's a Path around the Lake. It's mostly asphalt, broken up pretty bad in the more distant area but still walkable or bikeable. There are some concrete sections to the left with a couple of sections missing so you walk on gravel. And there was mud in places, mostly avoidable without walking on the grass except for a rather long section in the concrete - gravel part of the walk. Walking on the grass is permitted. I just didn't wear the right shoes for that.
It's not a large lake and the path around the lake isn't very long. I walked 4.5 miles but I walked parts of the path multiple times to get more steps in.
There were a couple of people out in their Kayaks. And some others who were fishing. I also saw some people playing frisbee. There was some kind of a Court with a Net but I didn't go close enough to see what sport...

Has a frisbee golf course if you are good and or don't mind throwing your frisbee in the water.
There is also a trail that runs the perimeter of the park that has not been maintained well if at all.
The coolest/most disappointing part of the park on the other hand is tucked away in the back. There are some huge covered areas outfitted with outdoor kitchens (not currently usable) and a large field that could be used for soccer or other field sports along with plenty of parking and restrooms. The disappointing thing is this area is closed except for Memorial day weekend or some other holiday.
If this was fully maintained and 100% operational this would be easily one of the best parks in this area for families and...
