This beautiful waterfall is thirty minutes outside of Dufur, Oregon. There's limited parking available and no park fee when entering the area. Upon the parking lot, there is a bathroom available on-site that's clean. If you have a packed lunch, there's plenty of picnic benches to sit back and relax while listening to the sound of the waterfall. An overlook of the falls is less than a minute walk to enjoy the view. To the left of the overlook is a trail to take you down to the river that you can go swimming. The trail is a bit on the steep end but it's worth the walk. If you're in the area for a quick pitstop, I highly recommend stopping by this beautiful area. You won't regret it!

White River Falls boasts an easy 0.7M hike that is alongside one of Oregon's (and the entire country of America) first hydroelectric power facility. Built in 1910 and used until 1960, this hydroelectric facility provided electricity for Wasco County and surrounding areas. This hike is easily done in Autumn. Prepare for conditions; seasonal bathrooms are closed at the park, however there are handicap accessible porta potties available for use in the parking lot. During winter a wheelchair will not be able to fit through the path provided while the gate is shut.

This water fall has some amazing drops which makes it unique. The water fall has a upper and lower tier with the upper being the largest drop. There are several side falls on the upper falls that frame the main drop. Located just off the parking lot, most people will be able to see the falls, To get to the lower falls is a good hike down a step trail to the old power house. Once at the bottom you can get some great shots of the lower falls, with the upper falls framing the back drop.

I like the eastern side of Oregon it is such a change from the western side. We drove over here as a day trip from the mid Willamette Valley. The little park is easy to find and is clean and well maintained. I am 67 and don't have the knees I once had. After heading down the asphalt path heading down towards the river, you cross over a nice wooden bridge. After that the trail becomes more "primitive". I do wish they had the opportunity to make a better path down to the viewing area for these falls. By September it is just powdery dirt and loose rock on a descending trial. Really easy to slip, I know! But I did make it to the two rocky overlooks. The White River Falls was not viewed at this time of the year because of decreased water. However, we will be back in April to try to see...

I took a last minute trip here from Portland and it was definitely worth the drive. The falls can be heard from the parking lot, a short 3 minute walk away.

Since the main bathrooms are closed for the winter, there is a well maintained port a potty at the gate. Like others stated, the gate is closed, but you can squeeze past.

The wooden steps down to the abandoned hydro facility are a bit steep, so I would only recommend it on a dry day and if you're sure footed, have good balance and good traction on your shoes.

It's a gorgeous spot to spend an hour or so.

Also, apparently people swim here in the summer... but I don't see how, as it's white water which starts at the falls.

I would absolutely recommend seeing this...
