The day use area is a great place for a walk. I take my dog up there all the time to walk. The water is a little bit fast for them to swim. Wood River is crystal clear on the upper part and the water is always cold 39 to 42 degrees all year long. During the warmer weather I kayak there quite a bit. Most everybody puts in it Kimball Park a few miles upstream and floats down through the meandering River. River passes through beautiful Meadows and wooded areas. River wines quite a bit. By Road from Kimball Park to the day use area it's three miles. By the river it's over 6 miles. When I go kayaking Ileave my bicycle at the day use area and tie it up there. Then I go up to Kimball park with my truck and begin kayaking. I pull out at the day use area then ride my bicycle back to my truck then pick up my kayak. A couple notes about coming down the river from Kimball Park there's some very shallow areas and you might drag a little bit about halfway down there is a dam across the river you can kayak through the dam but it's narrow and you have to duck down.
