Templar State Recreation Area — Attraction in Orleans

Big Spirit Lake. Probably an underrated lake for good fishing. Easy access, beautiful houses encompassing the whole lake. This time of year, at the end of October, the trees are starting to change. The water temp is dropping, and the fishing is good. I could definitely live here. The boat roam is an easy access to the lake. The lake is clean. We were in about 20 feet deep areas. We put our boat in at the boat ramp here, and it was perfect! Less crowded than the other boat ramp, but wished it was a little bigger, and had more boat trailer parking. We have a big tritoon boat, and our pickup barely moved through the parking lot. Other boat trailers we saw were parked up on grassy areas too. Parking lot just needs a little bit more space, other than that, it was a great place to put your boat...

This site has two concrete stairways on the right back side barely noticeable looking from the parking lot. They are back there ontop of the hill that lead down to the lake. There is a walk out deck to fish from but the deck isn't in the greatest conditions. The bathrooms are very clean though. The lake water is also clean and see through.
