I was very disappointed in the management/owner of this establishment. When we arrived as a group of 4 ladies there was not enough room for us to be together at the counter so we were originally split. One group moved over to assist and the servers(Chris and Benjamin) switched so we could be together. During our tasting the owner who refused to give her name came over and spoke with Chris our server. She asked us did we know her. We told her no we didn't. Then she turned to Chris and begin to tell her that she shouldn't switch and stay in her station. She continued to reprimand her in front of us. The server was very obviously embarrassed as she put her head down during their conversation. We continued the tasting as one of the other servers checked on her. Even though we were disgusted at the display of unprofessionalism we still tried to continue to have a good time. Approximately 8 to10 minutes later she circles around to her AGAIN to talk to her in front of us. Once again telling her she shouldn't switch and stay in her station next time. I have never seen such poor management abuse. All four of us spoke up for her because it was absolutely absurd that she not only once embarrassed this young lady but here she came again. She refused to give her name and said she was not the owner of the building but the bank was. She was caucasian with bright red hair. During our conversation she insisted she just wanted to ensure they were trained right and we didn't know how things worked. This was not the point we were trying to make. We understood correct training is important but corrections should be made privately and not in front of the customers and surely not twice with the SAME correction. Unfortunately, she assumed the only African American server in the establishment(Chris) knew the only African American customers in the building during that time and this is why there was a switch. Everyone was pleasant and friendly, but the owner, which is very sad. Fellow patrons moved down so we could be together and the servers switched to accommodate us but she refused to listen to the events that lead to the switch. After we tried to speak with her she continued to tell us that she felt the server was disrespectful while she was talking to her even though the young lady said not one word with her head down. Then said ok when she was done. She then compared her to the other server who she spoke with about the switch and she said.....he told me sorry. My friend told her you truly are missing the point as I told her that I felt she was very unprofessional and rude to her staff. My friend then told her you just lost sales because we were all planning on buying bottles. Her response was.....I don't care. On that note I went to the poor young lady to get my final tasting as I handed her the money I was planning on using to purchase bottles as a tip. The other three ladies did the same. As we were doing this the owner then said we don't have to do that she gets paid.....and proceeded to break down her rate of pay as an employee. Another unprofessional act that I just couldn't believe. I have never written such a long bad review but felt it was necessary. I will not recommend this establishment to others nor will I ever visit again. We had a great time on our trip overall to Michigan but this was definitely the one sour memory that was made by the owner of this establishment. Kudos to the two wonderful servers Chris and Benjamin who had to endure their managers unprofessionalism. No one should be have to be belittled especially in the presence...
Read moreWell, we visited yesterday on Saturday October 16th. Gravity used to be my go to. But, after yesterday, sadly I don’t know if we will be back….. They changed the concept to now they don’t provide the tasting on the board where you can go outside and enjoy yourself on the patio. So if you like to be belly up to the bar then maybe that’s for you… When you have rude patrons, they should IMMEDIATELY be reprimanded and asked to control their self’s or leave. My dad and I were trying to enjoy a tasting even though it was super busy. Some rude patron had her parents walk away from their area at the bar and the daughter put her leg up like she was a guard dog and screamed “No! This isn’t for you! These are taken!” Trying to be funny? Not so much. Gravity shame on you! And shame on you for not letting your patrons know what’s up. You knew this woman had too much to drink so you should have not offered her anymore to drink. I was told I can’t bring my pooch inside but some big slobbery dog was there getting the floor all wet and some little old lady almost slipped and fell with her wine glass. I was told ON THE PHONE that you only allow service dogs only. He certainly was not a service dog….
You have lots of work to do……Call me or send me a message if you don’t want to...
Read moreI love the original location. My friends and I were excited to try the new shop in South Haven. However, this evening we were very disappointed with the way we were treated by the employee working. We walked into the store around 7pm (closing time is 8pm). You could tell she was not pleased to see us. She instantly assumed we had already been drinking (we had not) and explained she just had to kick out another group of “drunk” women. She seemed annoyed by having to serve us. She was not friendly or welcoming. The place was empty. There are also no bar stools or chairs. Our pregnant friend asked for a glass of water while watching the group wine taste. The women replied no but suggested she go drink from water fountain in the corner. The wine was good but the atmosphere was not enjoyable. They also do not serve the cheese and chocolate at...
