Eagle Run Hiking Trail — Attraction in Oscoda Township

This is a great hiking, mountain biking, cross country sking trail just outside of Oscoda on River Road. It is approximately a 10 mile loop with smaller loops within. For mountain biking I suggest staying on the path that runs along the AuSable river as the other sections are very sandy. The entire loop is great for a fat bike. The entire trail is beginner level with very little in the way of hills. The scenery is fantastic as you will travel very near the AuSable river. The trail connects to the whirlpool boat launch and further west to primitive camp sites. There are outhouses at the Eagle Run path entrance and a paved parking lot with room to park a camper trailer if needed. I have seen eagles every spring and summer that I have hiked...

The trail is really beautiful, running along the Ausable River. Lots of flowers and birds in the area. There are ticks, I had 3 try to come home with me, and I was being mindful around the tall grass and shrubs. The trail is busy but everyone stays pretry spread out so you feel the solitude if that is what you are looking for. Only one tree down on the trail but it was easy to navigate around. We were looking for a walking trail for us and our two small kids. This trail is all natural and not groomed. We had two trees down in our path today and had to clear a lot of debris.
