DO YOUR RESEARCH. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO PAY ON THE SPOT. SHOP AROUND
I advise everyone to SHOP AROUND. Call other shops and obtain other quotes, even if you have to drive to Los Angeles, believe me, it's well worth it.
My first vehicle, back in October of 2014, I had them install an MTX Jackhammer amp with a 10" Kenwood sub in my 96' 318ti hatchback. Price was $230, for something that in hindsight, was extremely easy and shouldn't have been that much, but hey, they did an "okay" job at best. They didn't even have the courtesy of laying down some double-sided tape or velcro strap(s) to stop my sub box from moving about in my trunk--however that being, at the time, my first sub-woofer added to my car, I just didn't know any better and so I dealt with it. It was only until I went to another shop, which I explain shortly, that I learned of such.
Recently I purchased a newer vehicle, an E92 2010 335i with Logic 7. I came in hoping they would remember my face since I have distinctive curly hair, etc., didn't ring a bell (oh well, that's not really the point) and to quote me a price. I asked for a simple install and merely wanted to transfer my previous setup from my old vehicle to my new one.
I don't know if it's because I got a "newer BMW" that the sales person thought I was Mr. Moneybags or what, but that was/is certainly not the case. I was quoted $350-$400 for simply an installation of an AMP & SUB! I might only have a rudimentary understanding of audio in general, but I know when I'm being ripped off. I stated I wanted to simply add my amp and sub without tampering with my OEM L7 speakers/amp. I was immediately met with "Oh, well you're vehicle has Logic 7, meaning the sound is a lot more complicated. We have to remove the OEM Logic 7 Amp and rewire all the speakers to be powered by your MTX Amp". I didn't understand why all of that "unnecessary" work had to be done when all I wanted was for the bass line of my iDrive/Logic 7 to be tapped into for a little more kick in the trunk. I explained that was all I wanted done, essentially making it a "harness-piggyback" for the bass signal--nothing more & nothing less. Completely plug & play without touching the Logic 7 system. I was told that "that cannot be done, the signal has to be converted in order to work with the amp".
Complete bullsh*t.
I did some research online and quickly found that what I was looking for was a completely logical option and was relatively easy. So I shopped around and found a shop in Los Angeles (where my parents live) and had absolutely no issue with making the drive after I spoke with David at Six Autosound (in Korea town). Let it be known that this is in no way an advertisement for Six Autosound, but immediately as I arrived David listened to what I had to say and didn't try to talk to me in a condescending fashion, due to my limited audio knowledge, or coerce me into, as I was lead to believe, the only "option".
Final Price at Six Autosound: $180 and very professionally done in my E92 (and I'm very anal about my baby) Looks clean & sounds great! Just as I anticipated, thank you David! There's a reason why they have 4.5/5 stars with over 100 reviews!
So, you be the judge, nearly $400 or $180? These guys have a ONE from me because of the semi-decent work they did prior, otherwise it would be ZERO stars if possible. It was even cheaper than my 318ti that has a "far less complex speaker set-up". You guys just lost what was fixing up to be a loyal customer. But lying to my face to swindle more money out of me cost you not only a customer, but this review as well! A happy customer is a loyal customer and I can say with one-hundred percent certainty that I am completely and utterly dissatisfied.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI normally donāt leave reviews but after all itās cost me and the response I got back from these guys, Iāll be leaving one. I have taken 3 of my vehicles here over the years 1 was great never had a problem, the other 2 not so great. I had issues with my truck battery dying if it sat for 2 days, replaced alternator and battery just to find out they wired my amp to a constant power and it was draining the battery had to spend over $600 to find the issues after replacing battery and alternator. I also had they put amps, speakers and subs in my Altima and had speakers blow within a week, took it in and they replaced the speakers not checking to see what caused it, ended up having another set of speakers blow on my ways back home to Texas and when I called them they sent me to a place in Austin and found out the speakers and amp blew so I had to buy another amp and have the speakers replaced, I have since replaced the speakers another 3 times and the amp once more. Finally the last shop I took it too said thereās no reason for me to be blowing speakers like I was so I asked them to find the problem. Come to find out they had cut a bunch of wires in my dash and installed a line converter behind the radio and also installed 2 at the amps. Needless to say, another $2500 later Iāve got all new speakers and removed all the unnecessary things they installed and had all the wiring redone and my stereo sounds better than it ever has, I called breakers and asked for Josh the owner to let them know about the problem and see what if anything they were going to do about the 8 hrs of labor I paid to have it fixed and done right. I get a call back from Tony not Josh like I asked and I am told I am glad you got it fixed right. I will not be doing any kind of business with this place and I highly recommend anybody who does, make sure itās right or have it checked out cause both the vehicles them messed up of mine, they did not have a care in the world when it was brought to their attention. If you use this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came to Breakers Stereo after getting prices from several shops around town on In-Dash Navigation Systems. Josh was eager to assist me as soon as I walked in the door. After a few moments, he searched his inventory and pointed out a system, the perfect system, at a greatly discounted price. Not only was the price hundreds less than I was quoted by his competitors, he also provided an additional store and military discount with flexible financing. This allowed me to walk out the door with more cash in my pockets, than I expected to leave with. Installation took no longer than an 1.5 hours, on a busy Saturday and I didn't even have an appointment. I was so satisfied with the service and assistance, that I brought in two friends that were desiring some upgrades to their vehicles. He quickly provided them, with exactly what they needed at a greatly discounted price, as well.
Not even 2 months later, I came in looking to upgrade to HID headlight kit for my Jeep. Josh searched feverishly with all his vendors for the necessary kit, which he didn't have on hand. He setup an appointment, based on his expected delivery of the parts and unfortunately was not able to provide service on that date. One of his vendors wasn't able to get him the parts in a timely fashion and that usually would've ended my relationship with a business (based on not delivering on promises). However, Josh made it his priority to track down the part himself and reset our appointment for a week later. While the work was being performed, the following week, we encountered an additional part that would need to be used to regulate the power distribution in the vehicle. Not only did Josh fix the problem, but he also provide the part and prompt service for NO CHARGE AT ALL.
It is not very often you meet a stand-up guy like Josh. He and his staff provide quality and reliable service at a price that beats his competitors. I will continue to recommend Breakers Stereo to anyone I know in town...
