My friends and I went to the “Concert on the Hill” with Dr. Zhivegas. I found the wine quality to be decent and reasonably priced. Sugar Creek is a beautiful property and they have put a lot of time and effort into the location and patios. I would certainly enjoy returning.
I do think they completely fail on customer service. A trip to the winery is at least 30 minutes travel time and you’re pretty isolated. I think that they should be making sure enough information is in place so there is not so much confusion with visiting these events. With all of the social media and web site options, the lack of missing and incorrect information is completely unacceptable.
First, the event information didn’t specify details about food options, outside vaguely saying there would be some food. If you’re coming from the website it encourages you to bring food, but says there are meat and cheese plate options. I don’t see any reason to believe the event would be different. However, upon arrival it turns out it was a catered event and many customers were asked to return their food back to their car. I thought that was pretty rude. My friends and I would have been fine with purchasing food on site, but not after going through the trouble and expense of providing our own. The bar also had credit card options, but the food was cash only. This wasn’t a big deal except the online info specified everything was cash only.
As far as other issues, there was a $10 cover per person, which was vaguely mentioned on a Facebook post the day of the event, but not on the web site. The event was listed as 6pm to 9pm, but Dr. Zhivegas only played until 8pm. There was a DJ and I’m sure it was intended to mean the entire event was 6-9. There were a lot of customers disappointed.
Also, a couple of signs pointing out where the restrooms are located and that the main building was closed would have gone a long way that evening.
They have put so much effort into the property itself, it’s surprising the event info was so poor. Anyone with a smart phone could have taken 5 minutes to make sure everyone traveling 30+ minutes was...
Read moreI enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with friends, accompanied by a delicious bottle of Sugarcreek Winery's awesome Boone Country White, a flavorful wine similar to Riesling. Sugarcreek Winery sits atop a hill overlooking the valley below. Opposite, on the eastern shore of the Missouri River, is the town of St. Albans, Missouri. Sugarcreek is a wonderful place to gather with friends and listen to live music. They offer a delicious array of different wines, ranging from very dry to sweet, accompanied by delicious snacks you can purchase on site, or bring your own. Sit under an umbrella on the various levels of patios beneath the spreading walnut trees. You can also enjoy a wine 🍷 tasting experience, if you so choose. It's an all around delightful way to spend an afternoon. I highly recommend it. It's friendly and knowledgeable staff will be certain to find just the right wine for your...

I was disappointed how you embarrassed yourself on 8/26/2017. Our group goes to your winery for my wife's birthday every year. We were at your place for 4 hours with no issues. Your staff was friendly, turned on fans and asked how were were doing. We bought several bottles of wine, beer, soda and water. You approached us as we were cleaning up and told us this was no place for a picnic and that we needed to leave because you were hosting a wedding. Your overly aggressive and unfriendly rude attitude has made us uncomfortable with Sugar Creek Winery. You ruined our experience. We...
