I had a rather frustrating experience here.
When I looked at the visitor center on Google Maps it said they were closed Tuesday's and Wednesday's, though open every other day 9am-4pm. When you call the visitor center number, it goes to voicemail and a pre recorded voice comes on to say that they are open everyday. Though at the end of the recording the woman says this information is up to date as of 2018..
I wanted to come on a Wednesday but since it said it was closed I waited out the day to arrive on Thursday. After I drove an hour out of my way, I walked up to the visitor center to closed doors. Looking around the place the sidewalk had weeds growing throughout the cracks and seemed fairly unkempt.
I walked around to the backside where a clinic is and talked to a couple female employees inside. They said that the Visitor Center hadn't been open all season (I visited the first week of June 2023) and that they were having a hard time finding people to work...
Thinking this place would be open as it says it is on Google Maps, I drove all the way out here and there wasn't even a sign on the door or an updated phone recording earlier than 2018. I had to learn of its closing through the clinic attached to the building. I found this to be hugely inconsiderate to people's time and massively...
Read moreI have not visited the location but it is near the area of very dark night skies which is fast dwindlng from growing light pollution from growing communities all over.. I urge Bulldog community to be very very aware about light pollution. It is a valuable thing to protect totally dark night sky areas all over and what is left of it.. it takes one to be educated about light pollution and how it is destroying the dark night sky areas !! Less than 5% of western US is still totally dark .. it is like cutting trees until you have no trees left,, do you want this? I can understand people's concerns about security but this is overkill!! Please, Bulldog, refrain from putting more...
Read moreWhat a neat experience. The rangers at this station made my nephews day by priestly discussing dinosaurs with him. We found it fascinating with the rich history of the area. It’s worth the $30 per vehicle admission just to see this, let alone the rest of Lake Powell and Glen Canyon. This whole area is really close to some of the most amazing scenery you’ll ever see in Utah. The Rangers are amazing and helpful here and would highly recommend. A couple of notes - no WiFi (weak cell signal) and though they currently require masks they don’t have any. Thanks...
