Very beautiful beach. I have to say they have a ton of parking, which is awesome because I'm sure when it's summertime and nice and hot there's probably a lot of people taking advantage of that water. I don't know if maybe the lake was down when I visited but it seemed like the beach area was massive from the parking lot to the actual water. I'm not complaining it was just a surprise! I'm so glad that I had water shoes and I would definitely suggest having some of those for when you do go to any of the beaches in Ohio because the speech was a little rocky oh, and when I mean Rocky I mean it was little stones. There is a beautiful lighthouse that you can see in the distance and I'm sure that you can actually walk up to closer but I wasn't going to walk that far. It seems like they have a very good amount of picnic tables and kind of covered areas for guest. It seemed like they had bathrooms but I didn't use those facilities so I can't really say how many and if they were super clean. Next time I go up to Cleveland I will be sure to check it out and I can update my review. They did have cops kind of monitoring everything which was nice. A fun fact is that the Morton salt mines are right there and they run about two thousand feet below. I highly recommend the speech it was clean it was nice lots of space to run around...
Β Β Β Read moreWas sadly kicked off of a beach because a fellow person had a service dog. When I had my dog who is also a service dog. She didn't ask any questions she was a lifeguard and the service dog was barking continuously at my small service dog who did his job and ignored the other dog. We had just loaded up our wagon and had pushed it to the beach struggling just to get there and get told we were not allowed on the beach because they had a service dog. Why? I have a service dog too why does their service dog who obviously lacks the training my service dog has deserve more right on the beach than mine? Obviously the lifeguards need more training on the basis of service dogs. I do have a service leash and I do have my dog registered though it is not mandatory nor even necessary most of the registrations are scams My dog is 100% train to be a service dog and that's all that is required. And the lifeguards need updated on this no questions nothing straight looked at us and said we have to go we are not allowed on the beach we drove 4 hours to go to. All because of another dog barking that right there is proof that that dog was not trained to be a service dog. But even so even if it was and it still has yet to finish training to not acknowledge other dogs They do not deserve more right to be on a...
Β Β Β Read moreI enjoyed a lovely few hours at The Eastern side of the Headlands Beach park in early September, a few days ago. We checked out both sides of the park, the western "big beach" and the eastern protected dunes/marsh. Had a picnic in the shade of the beautiful cottonwood trees before going out on the boardwalk to get to the sand. It was a longer walk than I expected for me with my walker, but a nice stroll for most people. I so wanted to take the right hand path to the lighthouse, but it's like a deer trail. Not for someone needing wheels! The beach was nice, but the deck with the binoculars no longer has it's overhead structure. I don't know why they took it down. Again beautiful day, and fun to watch families playing at the beach.
After talking to some other visitors, we checked out the western main beachy area to see the three sand sculptures from the sand castle building contest beck in August. It's amazing they are still there. There is a blue tarp runway out towards the water for easier walking (or walkers line mine) but I didn't go all the way out. Looking forward to going back. I feel lucky to live near such a great...
