Lilac Park is located in Palm Beach Gardens. It has a multipurpose field, covered playground, uncovered playground, and exercise trail. This is a great park to take the kids and pups to play but it is also ideal for exercise too.
Next to the parking lot you will see the Lilac Dog Park. Dogs are only allowed in the dog park, not the other sections of Lilac Park. The fenced in dog park has separate areas for large and small. There is also covered seating, picnic tables and agility equipment.
In the back of the park I discovered the clay Burns Road Jogging Trail that ends at Lilac Park. You can pick up the trail at the eastern end of the Burns Road Recreation Complex at Burns and Military. From there the trail heads south over a bridge across the the Thompson River canal into Lilac Park. Once the Burns Jogging Trail enters Lilac Park there is Fitness Trail equipment that uses your body weight to exercise and condition your body. I liked the part of the trail by the canal best where I watched a number of native birds attracted...
Read moreThis is definitely in the running for #1 park in palm beach county, especially if you have a toddler. The shaded play area is great and has a specific fire truck playground for younger kids. One of my favorite parts about it is the fence around the lake. Most parks are open to the water which gives me so much anxiety with a toddler who likes to dart off. Also the playground is fenced in from the parking lot/road as well. And the play area is the padded turf material (rubber), and that’s great for falls. My son also loves that he has twice been lucky enough to be a recipient of a foul ball from the college baseball field right next to it. This is in a great safe area, and it’s probably the only park I’ve been to that I’ve never seen any shady activity. If you have older kids, there’s also a great big climbing/monkey bar area for the more acrobatic of children. We even stylized one of the pictures we took here and had it framed on canvas and it’s hanging in our living...
Read moreLilac Park is a great place to play pickleball in Palm Beach Gardens. It has 12 dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. The courts are well-maintained and the lighting is good for playing after dark. However, the park can be crowded at times, so I would recommend going early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the crowds.
One thing that I would like to see at Lilac Park is more pickleball courts. The park is so popular that it can be difficult to find a court to play on. I would suggest adding at least 3 more courts to the park. This would help to accommodate the growing popularity of pickleball in Palm Beach Gardens.
Overall, Lilac Park is a wonderful place to play pickleball.
Here are some of the pros and cons of Lilac Park for pickleball:
Pros: Dedicated pickleball courts Permanent lines and nets Good lighting Well-maintained
Cons: Can be crowded at times Could...
