This is a much smaller state park than most I've visited. Grounds are nice...the gazebo and huge oaks especially. Water features needed some upkeep though; foamy, green algae and stagnant water smell/think pond water (off-putting, but not terrible). Keep in mind, it is Florida and high temperatures and high humidity makes it hard to keep up with the algae! The little bridges throughout the park had some loose boards also. Lots of benches to stop and rest on. Restrooms available also. Good amount of parking and a small gift shop. Drinks and small snacks available in the gift shop at very reasonable prices (name brand canned sodas just under $1 each!). I do highly recommend crossing over A1A and visit the beach side of the state park. The $5 entrance fee covers both sides of the state park. Nice parking area, about 20 spots, with two port-a-potty "restrooms". The beach is made up of sand and crushed seashell. Very clean. The infamous rocks are a short distance from the beach access point. The rock formations are extremely fascinating. Pretty unique for Florida, not something you see on most beaches throughout the state. Makes for interesting and beautiful landscape pictures or wedding/maternity/engagement/spiritual (as in, capturing the essence of you and nature). I really enjoyed the rocks. Swimming isn't recommended there; submerged rocks and no lifeguards. Better to just go north a little to an actual beach. So, in my opinion, I wouldn't travel a long distance just to visit the gardens and rocks. It would be better as a stop on the way back, or through, during...

APRIL 2023 NOTE: BEACH ACCESS CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE DAMAGE NO REOPEN DATE POSTED
Is what a beautiful drive to the park. Just along the A1A. The park has a trail that interconnects at various parts as well as a view of the intercoastal / matnazas river which had a lot of water sports going on with fishing, jetski's, and boats. It's april and the breeze was phenomenal and cool even my nine year old son enjoyed it. Lots of flora and fauna to be seen. My favorite was definitely the rose garden such a beautiful layout of the least 6 to 10 varieties of roses all in bloom and fragrant.
There's a gift shop on site and a visitor center and a lot of historical information about the young house.
This is a must see for families or just people looking for a Scenic exercise day.
Even though the beach access was closed due to damage from hurricane we went 10 minute drive down to jungle hut park. There is parking, facilities and beach access (review...
Read moreThis is a must do. We spent about 2 & half hours there. If you love to be outside. If your family likes parks. Arboretums. Then definitely go here!
It's $5 per car. Cash. Honor system. Easy parking.
There are small winding pathways to follow. One down to the river. There were people fishing. Benches. Tackle boxes. BBQs. Beautiful views. The brochure says dolphins but we didn't see them. We studied the rocks in the water that had huge hermit crabs! So cool.
Then there's the rose garden. Serene. Beautiful pics. We saw a big turtle in the flower beds!
There's ponds. Water features. Little bridges. Great to watch the big & little fishies. Gazebo. Relaxing.
Butterflies everywhere.
There's an unmanned little visitor center house. AIR CONDITIONED!!! Ahhhhhh. Comfy couch. Video on tv about the park. Info boards with phones to listen to the former residents. Lots of brochures. Clean restrooms.
Then we took the half mile walk through the woodsy path (bug spray a must!!!!) to an open area with a pavilion of picnic tables, more BBQs, restrooms. And a playground!!!! We brought lunch. And played.
Again, we loved it and will definitely be back. We went down the road to the Hammock Beach resort and had lunch at the Ocean restaurant overlooking the beach. Was so nice.
Fort Mantaznas is just north of the park. We'll do the...
