If you are considering checking out this Black Owned Farm, you absolutely should! You should go, right now during Black History Month. This place is magical and healing! The Farm is beautiful and all the people working there were beautiful and incredible and everything I needed!! Every person i met was so friendly and kind. I went with my friend, my forever sister, last weekend. We were both in need of peace and healing and by the time we left we were full! We couldn’t stop smiling. The land was such a beautiful and peaceful place. Akeem drove us around the farm on a guided tour. He was so knowledgeable and funny and down to earth, it was such a treat! There are 250 acres of land on the Farm. Akeem showed us the green houses and all the different collards, who knew there were so many types?! He also showed us the pond, campground, the pear and peach trees, the grape vineyards, and strawberry patches! They have sooooo much food! The fruits are not in season at the moment so we were just able to see the plots of land and setup, but i will be back this summer when they bloom. The collards were so vibrant and gorgeous. Also, all of their foods are organic. They offer the option to order and have your food delivered to your door! I live in LA so this makes it super convenient to access all of their fresh foods. We also met Bhakti, she is a well of knowledge and super sweet! She shared some knowledge with my friend and I from her own personal health journey. We went to their shop and they had the most amazing goodies! They had toffee that melted in my mouth, I usually hate tofee btw b/c it always gets stuck in my teeth. This toffee was not that. We also met Ms, Kellie who was equally as incredible. She shared her food knowledge and plant based lifestyle with us as well as kind words and a hug a didn’t know I needed. The ladies who worked in the shop were also super kind and helpful. They directed us to sample the vanilla bean butter and it was impeccable. They had soy candles that smelled amazing too! They also had free range chickens that were living their best life and were gorgeous! The chickens even felt happy. The farm smelled like sweet lavender b/c they plant it all over. I wanted to purchase everything lol. I ended up buying their marigold soap, herb blend, and my friend was sweet enough to buy me a tote bag! Also, make sure you get the lavender lemonade!!! Do not leave without this. It was so so refreshing. I give this place a 20/10! Please go visit, you wont regret it. And if you live in LA and don’t want go the distance, I promise this little drive is...
Read moreVisiting California from the East Coast for the Kendrick Lamar concert. A dear friend wanted me to have “experiences”, not just vacations. So when she suggested a black owned farm field trip north of L.A. I figured 🤷🏽♀️ sure! Hands down my favorite part of the trip thus far. The land is beautiful, almost biblical in its inviting. From the moment you pull up, you feel welcome. We were fortunate to have a disarmingly charming and knowledgeable guided tour with Nick. He was transparent and engaging in his telling of the history and overall goals of the property. The farm has BIG plans for food equity and teachable skills. Being from a city with its own food desert problems, it was promising, dare I write hopeful to hear of the Bloom Ranch plans. The diversity and intentional inclusion of indigenous people and their unsurpassed agricultural knowledge and masonry made me proud to be American, specifically a Black American. This is more than a “black owned farm and ranch.” This is a place where God seeds possibilities into your heart and mind.
And they have a store, with all the locally grown items that you get to see during the tour. I can’t wait to gift my family and friends some of the beautiful artisanal crafted items! Teas, coffee, bath bombs, honey, olive oil, vanilla lip balm, granola and HOMEMADE TOFFEE!? But I have absolutely no plans of sharing that toffee, it’s a problem…the good kind & it’s MY PROBLEM. 10’s...
