Went to bullfrog lake on a Sunday evening with my 5 year old son. I grew up fishing this pond/lake and wanted to give my son the same experience even tho it is limited now with the new campground I was told previously as long as we don't go in the camp ground ( past the gates) it was ok even tho we weren't camping well apon arrival we started to walk to the water when I was stopped by a employee named John Roche he proceeded to tell me that we could not be on the premises if we were not registered campers even though there was a group who I witnessed drive in and walk right to the dock and use the table and chairs and we're never asked a question just kind of sad even with a small child John Roche decided to turn us away have camped here many times since it opened and had a great time but the employees that care for the grounds and main office are very rude and very inconsiderate wish cook county Forest preserve would pay more attention to the people who run...

Bullfrog lake is a hidden gem in the middle of suburban Chicago the campsite nice and clean Stafford friendly and in general to lake and surrounding areas is pretty nice to look at. when I was there at the fish weren't really catching but then again I am not an angler. The only real downside is the people in there the campsite next you which bullfrog lake can't handle but sometimes they can be rather nauseous. To date this included a bachelorette party who a started building on fire and the lovely couple who fought the entire time and taught my children swear words but in general bullfrog lake is definitely worth the visit and I will certainly be back to learn more swear words and see...

I absolutely love coming here. I can't wait to actually do an overnight camping here but usually we go there for lunch They don't serve lunch we bring our own as a picnic type thing) walk around the trails the staff is very friendly the bathrooms are clean it's just a really really nice beautiful place to go. And on top of it the camping is super cheap I highly suggest coming here if you want to take even a little mini vacation overnight. It's so close to the city but yet you feel like you're a million miles away from it. It's so nice and relaxing and very enjoyable in my opinion they also have kayaking you can fish I can't say enough nice things...

Last Sunday 5/16/2021 me and my friend decided to do a morning walk at Bullfrog Lake. While we were there we saw this big snake (see at the picture). At first I thought that it's just a regular garden snake until 2 days ago when I showed my friend a picture and told me that the size of the snake doesn't fit a garden snake. Most likely someone thrown away their snake around that area. People coming with kids please take be extra careful as we just walked away from the sanke and we don't know where it is. Not sure if it's dangerous but who knows. Just letting everyone know. BTW the snake was hugeee so it shouldn't be a problem of spotting it.

Really this is more like 4.5 stars. Great little local campground for a weekend getaway close to home! Easy access to numerous hiking trails. Two bathroom/shower houses both were clean and well maintained. My only complaint is that the RV/tent electric sites are all listed the same way when booking, but not all of the sites have tent pads. The site we booked was more of an RV site with minimal grassy space to set up our tent. We made it work, but clearer descriptions are needed for booking. Even the lady in the front office who checked us in was confused why we booked that site for tent camping.

I had an awesome experience camping here for the first time. I heard a pack of coyotes howling at 2 am. There's so many different sounds that was familiar and unfamiliar. From the birds to the insects it was worth it. The one terrible experience here was when the water ran out. We couldn't take a shower, wash our hands or flush the toilet. One must always have a backup plan for just incase moments. Overall my family and i really enjoyed ourselves.
