I actually hiked the Bear Hollow Trail, which also starts at the same point of the Benefield Loop. The Arkansas State Park website told me the Bear Hollow Trail has some of the best scenery on the mountian. I found this to be not quite true, although I suppose it depends on your definition of scenery. If you start the trail from the picnic area, about .35 miles or so in you will reach a nice overlook. The remainder of the trail is simply that: a trail. The whole trail is pretty narrow, enough for single-file hiking, but you will definitely need to step off the path if you pass people coming in the opposite direction. Overall not a bad trail, but I wish the state park website was more accurate in what this specific trail actually contained.

Good, easy trail. We went after a day and a half of rain/storms, and even got rained on during our trip. Myself, my wife and our almost 2 y.o. toddler enjoyed the hike and the views. Trail is slightly overgrown. The only critter spotted was a baby snake along the way. No issues with slipping as we took our time. We traveled the East route. The cliff edges were towards the end of the hike, and not too overwhelming for us.

Stopped here on our way out West, traveling on I-40. About an hour out of the way, but totally worth it!!! Had to see some of Arkansas, and the epic views on this trail made this trip even more memorable. Wear sturdy hiking boots, and the East Loop Trail has the best views (but also some pretty sheer dropoffs, just be mindful and stay on the trail).
