Lake Itasca — Attraction in Park Rapids

Here’s a place we’ve wanted to see for years. We’ve been south below New Orleans where you can go as far south as you can along the Mississippi River and it was neat to be at the start as well. We got here real early as I thought it might get crowded. Good plan as a group of school children had just left and, after we’d had the place to ourselves for about 15 minutes a mob of kids came in, took off their shoes and socks and took over the area. WOW! Lucky enough to see this park glowing! They are working on a retention project so we could not get right down by the water but really enjoyed what we could see and hike! Many informative plaques about history, a gift shop, cafe(limited hrs), picnic tables and super clean bathrooms. We drove the wilderness drive and enjoyed nature at its best!! There is a beautiful paved bike trail so we will be returning with our bikes next! Day pass was $7.00 and worth...

Beautiful seeing vast trails and of course the start of the great Mississippi River! Spent many times camping and 15 + years of deer hunting the beautiful area that is offered here.. Watch each other for the deer ticks as their bad up there. Part of the reason we quit hunting it... Love, Peace, and Prayers to All who visit this unique place God has created...
