Well, yesterday I wasn’t sure how in the world I was going to review this place! We’d booked a deluxe cabin for 2 nights to have visit time with our friends who were staying in the camp RV Park. First problem was when our GPS had us going in circles and we were still 30 minutes away from the checkin office closing. We called the the office, told wonderful Natalie our problem. She figured out where we were and stayed on the phone with us giving directions to the office, assuring us that she wouldn’t go home until she had us checked in. We made it and were put in cabin #10. Oh boy! Dirty dishes were stacked in the sink, on the stove and on the counter. The vacuum and broom were in the middle of the entry way where lots of muddy footprints led across the carpet. Dirty towels were on the counter and the stove was splattered with some kind of white creamy stuff from someone’s meal. We called Natalie and she was appalled and said she’d find out what happened and make sure we were compensated. We left to visit our friends and when we came back I washed dishes and straightened up the very cute cabin. We settled down to watch tv and it started raining really hard. The roof started leaking in the living room in several places across the beam. I pulled trash cans and put them down to catch the drips. Then the dripping started in the upstairs bedroom. More pots and bowls. We slept in the bedroom downstairs and it was so COLD, with the only thermostat being on the upstairs level. Not much sleeping, let me tell you.

So, why do we give an excellent rating??? Early the next morning, we talked to Natalie in the office. She had us move to deluxe cabin #1, which was perfect. Apparently, through a “comedy of errors” we were placed in cabin 10 at the end of the workday without communication between staff. The maid was in the cabin cleaning up after the previous residents. She was chased out when a work crew was sent in for repair and was never notified when they left, nor did she notify the office. The cabin was wonderful, except for all the problems. The office staff was horrified and offered to take care of us and then they did with the move and full refund. If we’d been treated nonchalantly, it would have been different. In our case, they did everything possible to make things right. Things happen and we loved the cabin we were moved to and I’m SURE our first cabin is being addressed so we have no complaint. Thank you Natchez Trace State Park staff for responding in the right way to a very bad situation. We recommend this place to anyone who wants a beautiful place to stay, with people who...

The park area itself is amazing from what I've seen, only reason it gets 2 stars. Sadly the rangers in this area have a nice little thing to get people to involuntarily donate to the park. While driving down 114 in my UTV, get pulled over because I was on a state road. I've never had a problem while driving on the road, and get a plate just to be able to. I've driven on the road for months in Newport, TN, and a couple of weeks in this area. Passed many cops and have never had a problem with driving on the most any roads. Suddenly get near a ranger, and it's a park citation for riding on a state road. $50 to the park, but it would've been a lot more for a ticket they said, which is probably true (edit: not true from what I've read, just something they tell you). They all claim they wish the rule wasn't there, and they even acknowledge just waiting on the state to pass an amendment (SB0090) to make it legal. I don't buy it, seems like they're just getting money for the park in a semi shady way. Ranger even claimed he didn't believe me that I wasn't getting pulled over other places.

All you're doing by enforcing this is losing people that would've come to the park. Who wants to have to trailer their sxs in to visit your park. Which includes trails, when riding to the park would be much easier. All because you are choosing to enforce something that you admit others don't. Saying that it's because the amount users, 114 is barely a state road, your ranger even had to mark out on the ticket Nanchez Rd to write 114, just so the ticket made sense. You guys do you, but I still think you're just going to be losing visitors, and just ruining people's fun for no reason. If the park doesn't get the money, why did they say it went to the park, and why did the check i write get made to NTSP??

Also F-- for not having an online payment, you'd think the forrest service would not want more trees cut down for...

We visited in a 45 motorhome towing a car. Thank you AMANDA for so kindly helping us reserve a good spot for our big rig. Unfortunately, our gps took us the wrong way and we were lost. (Amanda told us a GPS is not your friend in Natchez). At one point, a turn was so sharp, we thought we might have to unhook our tow vehicle in the middle of the road, but we barely made the turn. It was a bit of a scary experience (fortunately we heard no dueling banjos 😜. We finally ound a spot to pull over and called the park office. A wonderful, patient lady, Mallory, spent a good bit of time helping to figure out where we were and then giving us step by step directions. Thankfully, we arrived without a problem. THANK YOU MALLORY!!!.

Though the sites are built on hills, the majority had been excavated to be level. There were only about 10-15 sites that had nice water views. There were many small children enjoying riding bikes, scooters and skate boards and it seemed like a safe area with little traffic.

Our major complaint, which kept us from giving 5 stars, was the fact that we had NO CELL SERVICE, except to send/receive an occasional text. We missed having TV on our iPads. Fortunately, we had plenty of books loaded on our kindles, for entertainment, or we would have been very bored. It was too far to walk to the lodge to use their WiFi, but we could have driven there in just a few minutes, had we needed service.

We enjoyed the seafood buffet at the lodge on Friday night. Reasonably priced, average fried seafood. We also had breakfast on Saturday morning. Typical scrambled eggs, tater tots, bacon and sausage etc. I’d give it 3 stars. However, the service was great and all the servers were so friendly. All in all, we would return if we could get a site with cell service (we were...

Quick stops to #hike on a #roadtrip are super important, and #natcheztrace is very #dogfriendly. This #trail left from the visitor center, and was easy to jump back on the highway

Let me start off by saying we have stayed at plenty of TN State Parks and this by far was the worst. We got rustic cabin #1. It set off to its self which is great. The first thing you see is a rusted up old refrigerator. The AC vents are rusted up and even the stove has rust at the bottom. We found later (after doing dishes) that the sink was also leaking. The wife got stung by a wasp while cooking breakfast satudray morning. I didn't get to kill it as it went into a nest under the cabinet by the refrigeator saw it again this morning before we left. Whe nyou flush the toilet it was so loud that the people in cabint 12 on the next ridge could here it. Really it was so lound it would wake people up who were sleeping. Had to drive 8 miles past the cabin location to pick up the keys then drive that same 8 miles back which is reduiclous. I will say the park was clean execpt for the very large spider that was at the end of one of the trails where they leave brochures. We saw plenty of deer while driving but that was about it. I gave this 2 stars only because we stayed here once before in the cabins over by the lodge and they were much better, but higher in price. We wanted a rustic cabin not a rusty cabin. I will also be sending these pictures to the state to see about getting some things replaced. I was very dissapointed as a TN resident to see our State Parks in such disarry.
