Like so many parks in the area, if you go looking for nature you're going to be disappointed as soon as you realize you're never too far from a major road to hear heavy traffic. But if you're looking for a nice wooded spot without leaving the urban sprawl it's hard to get much better. I went during a particularly muddy time after a deluge of floods, and the older trail did not handle this with grace. However, it gave me an opportunity to see how gracefully I could manage, and between staying upright on steep muddy slopes and balancing on fallen branches turned makeshift bridges across flooded normally unpleasant conditions made for the light obstacle course I hadn't realized I needed. I'm pretty sure it will be easier if you go during a dryer time of year, but if you're looking for somewhere fun after the rain this does the job. The newer trail was raised and wound up a steeper hill, but was much dryer and led to a neat overlook of...
Read moreThis is a very well maintained and mostly clean park that is great for walkers, runners, trailmen/woman/other, and dog walkers. To me, it is the nicest park in the nearby area. I did have one bad experince of getting lost on the trails by following the signs. Some of the trails lead to the outlets of nearby neighborhoods, and although this isn't inherintly the issue, the sign from there is not detailed and does not tell you the way back, and the first sign I messed up at was supposed to be a 1-mile loop, that ended up taking me to one of the neighborhood outlets, lost and confused instead. That being said, instead of backtracking, my dumb ass kept going forward and got even more lost. I ended up having to get an Uber from one of the neighborhoods, which was a 10 minute ride back. It was mostly my fault, but I wish there were more signs or directions for the geographically challenged. It is a very nice and scenic...
Read moreVery nice Pavillion w/ fireplace, but need to bring own wood these days. It's abit of a way to the shelter for those who can't run in the rain! Handicapped parking isn't close enough for those folks. Clean restrooms, seemed hard to use alone, if handicapped.
No night sky pictures possible w/all those bright, white, nocturnal animal disrupting light pollutants, for us peons sans tri-pods! 🤣
BTW, has anyone seen any moths, of late? 🤔
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) turn on/ off very rapidly. Supposedly, this is at a rate that WE cannot perceive. BUT, according to studies frm Oxford, UK, they are perceptible, perhaps also to the moths that are no longer present in the Parks?
Bottom Line: Great free place to go! Rated E for everyone! Clean, but take Lysol and hand wipes, as always! 😀
Have a...
