My husband and I got married in October 2024 at The Haven. While the venue looked stunning on paper and in photos, our experience fell short of expectations. We had been cautioned by a previous bride about certain issues, so we took extra precautions by hiring independent day-of coordinators—one of the best decisions we made. However, despite our efforts, the day did not go as planned.
During our final walkthrough, we were verbally assured that any fluctuation in our guest count would not affect our alcohol charges. Yet, after the wedding, the venue attempted to charge us extra, which we declined. Additionally, many of the staff members were rude to our guests, as well as to my mother and mother-in-law. Despite being told that the staff would manage the venue, we encountered several issues: there weren’t enough chairs, the restrooms were not restocked throughout the night, the venue coordinator was no where to be found, the owner yelled at my husband when he accidentally went into the office (we were told we had access to the whole space and it was truly an accidental walk-in) and the outdoor bar—supposed to remain open the entire evening—was closed after cocktail hour.
One of the most upsetting moments was when my mother-in-law missed part of our dance because the venue staff refused to let our private bussers use the kitchen to organize and clean plates, leaving her to clean instead. To make matters worse, the staff began eating before all our guests had been served, and we ultimately ran out of food.
I had also paid for insurance on two golf carts for our photographer to use for wedding party photos, yet they were never made available. The groom’s suite and bridal suite were supposed to have stocked refrigerators for the wedding party, but these were locked at a certain time. We were also surprised by the expectation that everyone vacate the venue just 15 minutes after our scheduled exit time.
Additionally, a staff member was unreasonably rude to our late-night vendor upon their arrival, making it difficult for them to figure out parking.
While we didn’t allow these setbacks to overshadow our special day, we were deeply disappointed by the experience, especially after learning that I was not the only bride who had a less than amazing experience. I consider ourselves lucky to have booked them while they were still in the building stage and seeing it come to life was an incredible experience. The owner, Blake Harris, is professional, kind, and so attentive! Their coordinator Taylor was also so helpful. The facility itself is massive and absolutely beautiful. We decided to have an indoor ceremony with a full flip for reception and I have no regrets. Everything was clean, they had the equipment floral needed to do their thing, their staff was so nice to us and our guests. We are blessed to have been able to truly use this venue to its full potential and they were with us every step of the way! The outdoor space is amazing and was perfect for cocktail hour, and then just to catch a break from dancing next to the fire pits overlooking the pond. I could go on and on about my experience with them and will forever recommend them as a wedding venue for future couples.

Robin, the venue manager, was an immense help throughout the planning process and on the day of the event, ensuring that everything went smoothly. Additionally, Blake, the owner, went above and beyond by helping us source special hard cider from Louisburg Cider Mill, knowing how much we loved cider. This personal touch made our experience even more memorable. Overall, The Haven Event Space exceeded our expectations in every way.
